The "Ask the..." Anthology

Very cool. One question: in the past, when I’ve attempted searches, a three letter word is kicked back, so how did you work with “ask the” in the search pane?

ask the

Another poster started this thread, which didn’t start out as an “ask the…” thread, but it also became one. If you get time, maybe have a look and see if you think it belongs on your list.

Very cool thread. Agreed - should be sticky.

Ahhhhhh, the ‘emu’ thread. Fun times.

Idle Thoughts is the devil’s link workshop.

Oh, wow, this is great! Thanks, Idle Thoughts! A couple times I sort of wondered, “Gee, do ya 'spose anyone ever wrote an ask the [whatever I was thinking about at the time] thread?” but I was always too lazy to search it out. This is perfect.

Cool idea. You could start a thread inviting people to name memorable threads and then compile a compact OP like you did here.

I will either later today or tomorrow (I’ve been planning on that thread for the last week anyway).

As for this one, I’ll, after a couple of months or so, update it with a new reply adding any others made since then, the linked to ones in here, and, who knows? Maybe even all the ones below 18 posts (with a warning, of course, that the thread you click on may only have 2 or 3 replies. Heh).

That doesn’t work so far as I’ve tried.

Me, I just put the topics in each forum in Alphabetical order (from the beginning and in acending order), and then found the page in each forum that “Ask the” started on.

Took just a bit, but not that much. The thing that took the longest was just linking to them all.

What about, instead of or in addition to stickying this, change the title or insert a phrase that ITSELF is searchable.

Like…hmmmm…

TheAskThe Anthology

Thank me later

(wanders off, wondering if thread will now be picked up just by this post)

Works perfectly. Good idea!

So I haven’t seen any mods wondering in, is it appropriate to use the Notify Mods Button to request a “stickificiation”?

Jim

Sure, why not? I did.

Thanks, I did so.

Geez…I know it’s a good topic and all, but I don’t think it’s “sticky” good. : p

If they want to do it, well, that’s fine…but my personal opinion is, well, it’s not really all THAT important. It was just a time waster I did when I was bored. :stuck_out_tongue: Really, what would they say? “Oh yes, we’ll sticky it cause it’s something EVERYONE should see!”

Ha. While I could understand that if it was constantly something asked about,…I’ve only seen it asked about here and there. Not enough, IMO, to need to be up on topic of the boards as a sticky.

However, don’t get me wrong. I’m very flattered you’d all think it was worthy of it, and again, if it ever is, that’s fine…

…but I just don’t see it as being as important as stickies usually are. : p

This is my favorite of all of them. Inspired silliness.

My "Ask the Naked Guy Who’s Wearing Clothes"must have been lost during the Winter of Our Lost Content.

Oh, well. Come Spring, I’ll try it again.

Service is my middle name.

Outstanding work. I’m a newbie who didn’t know about these “Ask the” posts. I’ll be reading these for the rest of the week. Thank you, honey bunny!

You underestimate yourself.

If it turns out they have a problem with it, you could always submit it to the Teeming Millions Homepage.
