I watched it last week on dvd. I didn’t get up, pause, or otherwise let anything disturb my enjoyment of Penn’s extraordinary performance. I totally bought into, and sympathized with, the character. Others didn’t seem so enthusiastic. Maybe I identified too strongly to notice the movie’s failings, I don’t know. I’ll watch it again sometime.
