I’ve had this for a long time in my DVD collection and finally got around to watching it. I’m an utter romantic at heart so I was very disappointed that it didn’t end with a wedding, but I should have known better with Sorkin as a scriptwriter.
I love this movie, but right now I’m sick of it. I watched it three days in a row this week, since it was the “final” for my AmGovt classes. It’s so good I can overlook the total lack of soundproofing and knowledge of the street layout of DC.
My favorite moment is Sydney’s reaction to the President of France’s comment about Louis XIV - “Really?” Annette Bening nails the delivery, and her expression is priceless.
Matched by his when she speaks very decent French to the French President at the dinner.
It’s a fascinating rough draft for the West Wing.
Please explain. How did this work?
