The Bastard Executioner

Speaking of Welsh accents I just saw John Cale in season two of “The Bridge”

I recorded it, and was looking forward to watching it with the Druidess on Friday night. We made it maybe 15 minutes in and turned it off. Gratuitous violence without enough of a plot hook to make us care who was killing whom for whatever reason.

I’m trying to find this on (legal) streaming so I can catch up. The FX website has episodes 1 and 3 but not 2. Is it available elsewhere that you know of?

OK - looks like episodes 1 & 2 are available for free on iTunes. Weird, but OK I’ll take it.

I think that the episode 1 was the pilot and episode 2 combined.

I have not noticed that any plot was missing between the premier and episode 3.

Thanks - I think you’re right. The “Episode 1” on the website is 91 minutes long.

I thought it was OK. I don’t mind the violence but the CGI blood and slicing is badly done and takes me out of it. They blew past realistic and went straight to cartoony.

Well last night’s episode cleared up some confusion I had over who exactly gets Ventrishire; I was wondering if it was Lady Love’s fief and her husband only held it jure uxoris. She needs a man fast, ideally a peasant she can have killed as soon as he’s served his purpose. Bonus points if has any resemblance to the late baron.

I haven’t seen the 2nd episode, but I sure wasn’t impressed with the first. Lots of stolen material: Katy Sagal (and her weird accent) gives a soon-to-be tortured and executed girl a drug to dull the pain. Can you say Braveheart. Also, there’s the obligatory black fellow named (and get this) Berber the Moor. Can you say Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. I haven’t been bored enough to try episode 2, but I’ll eventually get around to it.
