The before and after Project

I was wondering how you feel about the project, what your top three versions would be if any? I would start a poll but have no clue how to do that. I find the second version of the United States most disturbing/morphed.

In the one United States version, they made her look like a child, in my opinion. I didn’t like that at all.

I chose Israel, Ukraine, and Vietnam - I liked the Israel one the most, and I almost voted for Italy. The US and Philippines ones that changed her hairstyle were awful, as was the UK one that basically airbrushed her whole face.

I find the project fascinating, but it might have worked even better had she made sure all the people she sent her picture to were at the same level - some of these look professionally done, while others, like the Bangladesh one, look really amateurish, which messes with the results.

I’m not trying to be self-righteous or preachy here, but to be honest, the ones that changed her the least looked best. Photoshop, in addition to promoting unhealthy body images in women, just ends up looking kind of creepy and and expressionless.

I picked Vietnam because it was the most natural; makeup just doesn’t look good to me.

Some observations: almost all of them deepened the color of her lips, and most made her face smoother, especially under the eyes. The third most common alteration was skin tone. Some made her face narrower and some wanted her eyebrows to be denser. A few went for heavily made up eyes, and United States #2 gave them an unreal slant.

Hi Everyone,

Pai35, are you referring to version no. 1 or 2?

Octarine, I was thinking about the different participants involved with the project and the “level” of experience each had as well. You mention the Philippines version no. 2. I think my issue with that one was her hairline was dropped way beyond the norm, giving her a rather odd look.

GiGi, I picked Vietnam as well, for the same reason.

Lumpy, I have to go back and look at the lips. Do you think anyone elongated the neck?
