Today I was listening to Tom Petty’s cover of the Lucinda Williams song, “Change the Locks.” It may be the most kick-ass breakup song I’ve heard.

I don’t think that “The Breakup Song” by Greg Kihn is the greatest breakup song, but I have to share this story. At my sisters wedding the band they hired started the evenings festivities off by playing this song. Huh??? What a great way to start off a life of wedded bliss.

I love the Pogues’ “Fairytale in New York”. It appeals to the cynic in me. 
Alanis Morrisette’s “You Oughta Know” has to be up near the top for bitter & angry breakup songs.
