Liberal here (though in general I loathe the Democrats too). I guess I’d have to say McCain. Although he’s whored himself out like a cheap rent boy for the last few years, I think underneath it all he still has principles.
So can I vote even though I don’t belong to either party? I vote Democratic or 3rd party more often, and would have to go with McCain here. I would hesitate to buy a car from Romney or Giuliani, let alone allow them to run the country, they’re that smarmy.
I’m a Democrat.
I could live with McCain.
Not a registered Republican, but I tend to vote that way. Hillary is the most serious, experienced, and realistic candidate on the other side in my opinion. I personally dislike her, but I think she’d make a far better president than the other Dem candidates. I’m leaning toward McCain myself.
Don’t blame me, I voted for Kodos.
Democrat, and I could, if I had to, live with McCain as President.
Republican (kinda, mostly libertarian): I’d go with Biden or Obama, mostly because they seem to be fairly honest guys, and straight talking, even if I don’t agree with their positions.
I’ll also put in a plug for my man Paul on the GOP side.
And I seriously can’t understand why any Democrat would find Giuliani tolerable. I mean, sure, he’s a LITTLE more liberal on the social issues, but the jackbooted thug that makes up the rest of him is something I figure a Democrat would run screaming from. If this election comes down to Rudy vs. Hillary, I weep for our nation…
Gee, I wonder why an American presidential candidate would think a thing like that?
Dem - Thompson. I dunno, just trust him a little more than the rest, coming a close second would be McCain.
Republican more often than Democrat, so…
Biden or Obama. Hell, I liked Dodd too.
Democrat here: 1 Ron Paul, 2 John McCain, 3 Fred Thompson.
I am a registered Republican and a Green.
I find HRC to be the most moderate of the leading Dems and I like Richardson the best of the dems but understand he has no hope.
If it comes down to any Republican except Rudy or McCain, I am voting Dem anyway. So, I am not the best Republican for your poll. If it is HRC vs. either Rudy or McCain, I might not make my final decision until November 1st.
Jim
Democrat here. Giuliani is least horrible.
Ideologically, Giuliani, though I can’t stand the man. McCain scares me. Anybody who thinks we’ve won the war in Iraq is dangerously delusional. That leaves me with – God help me – Romney.
Long time Libertarian here. The last “real” candidate I voted for was Jimmy Carter. I was hoping to cast a vote for someone who would actually be in the running this time around, but it doesn’t look good right now.
Democrat/Green: Ron Paul
Probably Senator Obama. I respect what appears to be a strong person of integrity; I hope I’m not fooled by a veneer that just hasn’t had time enough to crack. I like his staking out a position on net neutrality; I strongly support his initiative to grant legal immigrants who serve in the US Armed Forces and have been in combat expedited procedures towards citizenship. Not wild about his support for unionization measures or raising the minimum wage, but he’s upfront about them.
Truth told, in the unlikely event that Duncan Hunter were the GOP nominee, I would vote for Obama,
Independent. So I’d like to see Ron Paul running against Barack Obama.
I’m not literally a Democrat (self-described independent, not registered as a Dem) but my voting pattern at the Federal level definitely brays and does not trumpet.
Another “Dem” for Giuliani as best in contention for the Republican nom.
Democrat – Giuliani
Civil libertarian. As much as I would’ve liked at one time to say Ron Paul, I have no idea what he’s on about these days, so probably Giuliani.
