What is the best thing that happened to you this decade?
I really try to be good but it just isn’t in my nature!

I met my wife.
Am getting paid nearly 3 times as much as what I was the same time a year ago.
Tyler Durden: You are not your job. You are not the money in your bank account. You are not the car you drive. You are not how much money is in your wallet. You are not your fucking khakis. You are the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.
I don’t know if it’s the “greatest” but the most significant thing that happened to me in the 90’s is moving away from my hometown to a much more economically developed area. I have a career and a bucket o’ money that I’d never had had if I stayed in my hometown. If I look back over the many decisions that I made, making the decision to move has probably changed my life the most.
giving birth to my youngest son in march of 1991.
so you found a girl who thinks really deep thoughts. what’s so amazing about really deep thoughts? Tori Amos
The best thing to happen to me this decade was the birth of my daughter in 1997 and my son in 1999. Getting divorced this year was the second best thing.
Jeez, there’s SO much:
Got out of a really messed up and lengthy relationship.
Wrote my first (and probably only) book.
Got a job that pays me what I’m worth (even though I hate it here and want OUT).
Bought my own home!!
Ask me again next year, tho, and I’m thinking all of those great things will be small potatoes compared to this little pot I’ve got bubbling on the back burner right now…

Graduating from university and landing a real job for a change!
Some drink at the fountain of knowledge…others just gargle.
(In no particular order.)
Graduated from high school.
Graduated from college.
Got into grad school with a fellowship.
Lived in Spain for 4 months.
Met a lot of friends.
Severed contact with several truly evil people.
Helped pull my favorite student-run coffeehouse back from the brink of oblivion.
Decided I might not be a complete freak, after all.

I met my soulmate. Now if I could just get him over here before the end of the next decade…
I really try to be good but it just isn’t in my nature!
The birth of my son, Skirm.
I’d post a photo, but I don’t want to make all the Moms out there jealous, nor 'cause sleepless nights to all lovelorn lasses of the under 10 set.
2 beautiful children who aren’t embarrassed of me yet, a good marriage, and good health.
I found the SDMB.
::sniff::
::gets all weepy::
I love you people! </weepy>
That, and moving in to my house.
Happy New Year Everyone.
Watching my daughter become a beautiful woman. Witnessing her give her life to the man that she loves, and for myself, finding someone that my heart truly loves.

That’s three best things, hon. You, of course, are a really close second in my book.
Goodness. Nearly every significant thing that’s happened to me has happened in this decade. It’s been truly remarkable.
I guess the most important thing that’s happened to me is that I found myself. I figured me out, learned how to cope with me, and fix me when I break. I have upgraded myself enough now that I am satisfied with the current model.
If I hadn’t done this, all the rest of the extraordinarily cool stuff that’s happened would not have happened.
I found the woman of my dreams.
And, even better, somehow I convinced her that I was the man of her dreams. I’m not really sure how I did that, but I ain’t knockin’ it.
