I hope they stop making Leonard so unlikable. It is really ruining my favorite comedy. I can put up with inconsistencies re Sheldon’s various tics, and unrealistic Howard & Raj, but Leonard needs to be somewhat likable for the show to work for me.
I have no problem with how Leonard is acting. It’s an organic outgrowth, I think. He’s getting bitter, and with good reason. He was the good guy with Priya, who cheated on him, he got dumped by Penny out of the blue, and still has to deal with her (and she comes out worse in this episode, as the shallow, selfish cockblocking bitch, imo).
I think we need a bit more development for Leonard to finally get a good relationship that doesn’t end in such a crappy way. I think that would put him back on an even keel.
She told him she’d cheated on him after he’d admitted to cheating on her. Nobody was the good guy there (although she went further with it).
I mean, what was he doing accepting the phone number of a girl he’d just met, calling her, inviting her to his home, and then kissing her? Those are not the actions of a good guy.
That’s why it didn’t fly away immediately. It was tired from the flight in from its natural habitat.
It also looked an awful lot like a male bird. An egg appears, and yet we don’t see any other bird visit the nest. Huh?
I am not particularly familiar with this specific species, but most of the corvids (Jay, Crows, Ravens, Magpies, Jackdaws, Rooks, etc) are not sexually dimorphic.
Being the geek that I am (which explains my sole reason for watching the show), I immediately thought they were violating the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. A blue jay-ish bird would certainly be covered. But checking the list shows it isn’t covered. Perhaps due to being a Mexican species. (Although Mexico has its own similar law.) Possibly this bird was chosen as a stand-in for a blue jay since it isn’t covered. (And prettier than a feral-looking trained dove or some such.)
Leonard vs. Penny: Penny was the much bigger jerk. Move on Leonard.
Hardly any Howard in this episode, he had even less presence than Raj.
So, did you add the following text to the wiki page tonight:

I believe they are an accidental visitor to So Cal.
I don’t know why so many people here found Leonard obnoxious in this episode. I find a Leonard who is willing to say what he wants in the way of movie, food, etc., far more attractive than a Leonard who says whatever he thinks the girl wants him to say. Granted that explaining that the only reason he went along with what Penny wanted all those times before was because he wanted to sleep with her was a little unpleasant, but at least he’s being up front about it. Before I stopped dating, I got so tired of men who would basically never express an opinion about anything. It may have been meant to be accomodating, but it just came across as indifference.
Including Penny, apparently he fails only when he’s conciliatory. If he just would have called her bluff and drove home when she started flirting with Hipster it would have been checkmate. Expecting a friend to pay for you is douchebaggery, Leonard was just calling her on it.
What was with Sheldon’s hair? I think they try too hard to make him look like Alfalfa when he acts childish.
They may be aiming for “Alfalfa” but they’re coming close to “Adolf”.
I think that Raj might be Gay has been a recurring theme for some time.
He once made a comment about wandering into a Gay bar by accident and being upset when nobody hit on him.
Also he seemed fascinated by the experience at the N.Pole where they all had to sleep naked together when the heating cut out.(Never understood why they had to strip to share body heat )
I hope they call a halt to the “old married couple” jokes about him and Wolowitz, the theme was done to death in Friends and carried on long past its sell by date.
