The Big Bang Theory 2-2-09

It might have been his emergency stash, in case of an earthquake or other disaster that disabled the ATMs. Also, he doesn’t drive, so perhaps he keeps spare cash around in case he can’t get a ride to the bank.

It seems believable to me. I can see Sheldon thinking that such concerns are beneath him, sort of like driving. He doesn’t appear to need much money and I’m sure he would prefer to focus his mental energy on important things like physics, comic books, and computer games…

Plus he said he does have a small savings account.

Yeah, but he only mentioned that he has his 46% for expenses, the money in the snake can, and the cash stash in the hollowed out rear end of certain male Super Heroes. He didn’t say it was spare. The line sounded like that was the all-inclusive summary of his money, that beyond paying his bills he had no use for it, thus so much protected by snakes. Certainly, that’s not his retirement plan! Or, does Sheldon assume he will have evolved beyond mere death by then?

I don’t think he cares about being rich, per se, but more that he would be into the whole math aspects, and the manipulating of variables to try to beat the stock market, that kind of thing.

I wasn’t watching the scene too closely. I was too busy trying to figure out how somebody got toaded in the innermost realm. It’s been a very long time since I’ve played, but I remember that being a very difficult and devastating thing to do.

As someone who hasn’t had either in a long time, how valid is Sheldon’s disdain of the Icee-Slurpee comparison?

I guess if you like one, you dislike the other. Sort of like Coke/Pepsi.

Icee/Slurpee- No difference.

Slush Puppies, otoh- elixir of life, well, until the brain freezes killed you that is.

Although I don’t recall it exactly, I like Sheldon’s song at the end. Usually I record The Big Bang theory, but this week I recorded Chuck so I could watch it in 3D.

He doesn’t have a bad voice, does he?

“Good at math” doesn’t necessarily imply “cares about financial issues”. He might obsess about beating the stock market if it occurred to him, but it simply might not have occurred to him as he’s likely too busy obsessing about other things. And Sheldon having a retirement plan implies that Sheldon can conceive of a time in the future where he isn’t a world-renowned physicist; I don’t think he gives such a wacky dystopian future that much credence…

I thought it was nice that this episode didn’t revolve around Sheldon as the cause of bad things; that was starting to become a trend.
