No thread yet? I enjoyed it, although I can’t remember any good lines right now.
I liked that the guys were sitting around playing a game of Talisman when Leonard asked for their help with Penny’s old boyfriend. I got that game for my son the Christmas before last and he loves it. I wonder what kind of scientist he’s going to grow up to be?
I liked their little conundrum with trying to find an appropriate theater/restaurant combo. One flaw, though. I thought there was one theater that was acceptable, except it had Twizzlers licorice and not Red Vines. So why not buy the licorice in advance?
“That’s why it is guarded by snakes.”
“Oh yeah, if you ever need a couple of 50 dollar bills they’re in Green Lanterns ass.”
“Perhaps you should look at my daily log of social interactions to see if I’ve missed something.”
I caught that, too.
I loved everything in this episode except Penny’s forced “stop hounding me about the money” bit. It’s not the actress’s fault; I often find the plot-advancing elements to come off as forced, no matter who’s delivering them.
Anyone else distracted by that piano-looking thing on the wall in the background? I wonder what it is.
And how many social-phobic issues does Raj have now, anyway?
Check here (hope I’m not being whooshed).
I noticed that now that I know what it is, it doesn’t seem to catch my eye as much anymore.
You sure could see Leonard’s reptile brain begin to sweat when Penny said, “Honey, if we lived together, I couldn’t keep my hands off of you.”
My favorite bit:
Leonard: “Everyone understand the plan?”
Howard: “Koothrapali will wet himself, I’ll throw up, Sheldon will run away, and you will die. Should we synchronize our watches?”
I thought it was kind of neat that Sheldon had absolutely no sense at all of why Penny (or anyone) might feel unconfortable borrowing money from a friend. This trait fits his character.
A very funny episode last night! One thing I like about the show is how it spreads out the good lines among the cast. Last night everyone had their share of good lines. One reason why this show has worked for me (besides all the geeky references) is the excellent acting by the entire cast. Usually the cast in a sitcom like this doesn’t hit its stride for a while, but these guys are clicking superbly. Of course, good writing always helps.
I liked that too. He’s so clueless about social interactions and he doesn’t mind lending money. He’s got everything figured out to the penny (“My expenses account for 46.7% of my income. The rest…”) I wonder what his salary is? I don’t think he teaches…I think he’s a researcher.
For someone without a lot of money, Penny sure can afford a lot of candles. I like candles and I don’t have that many in my house.
$14 for shrimp in lobster sauce? It wasn’t that big a portion, either.
Those both jumped out to me as well!
She probably dates guys that, when faced with buying her a gift, ask around about what to get her and everyone says “well, girls like pretty-smelling stuff like lotions and candles. Buy her some candles!” and now she has a lot of candles
It was $14.50, but that’s okay.
I’m sure there were plenty of candles in the multitude of gift baskets from Sheldon from Christmas.
"Was that sarcasm?
Was THAT sarcasm?"
My dad and I were laughing about how geeky the characters are and that we identify with them, I said I recognized the board game they were playing and he said he recognized a few of the equations on the wall.
Dammit…you got me!!
Actually, this kind of took me out of my suspension of disbelief. I would expect Sheldon - or any of the guys - to be meticulous about saving and investing their money, meticulous about rates of return and compounding interest and things like that. Why would a person in a math-oriented field be saving his money in a can?
