The Big Bang Theory 2/2--The Friendship Contraction

i recall when going to Raj’s reluctantly because everyone was there he made comments about the unstructured events as being like hippies.

i recall similar comments to other unstructured situations.

I would swear that in one episode, when Sheldon did something obnoxious, Leonard said something like “at least he doesn’t do disaster drills in the middle of the night anymore.”

Re: Sheldon’s antipathy toward hippies, there’s another line where Sheldon was talking to Leonard in the lobby of the building after Amy asked him to meet her mother. Leonard said “why don’t you try telling her how you feel?” Sheldon looked at him in exasperation and said “Leonard, I’m a physicist, not a hippie.”

So, his anti-hippie creds are pretty well-established.

Sheldon wouldn’t have an escape clause for the roomie in the roomate agreement anything like that. It’s one of the things that defines the essence of Sheldon.

Sort of destroys something key to the central character just to squeak out an episode.

Do the writers even know what Sheldon is all about? Because if they did, that would not be the premise for the episode. It’d been better if Leonard just went passive-aggressive on Sheldon and ignored the agreement after being disgusted with it.

Sheldon would still be in an awkward predicament, need rides to see lawyers, file papers, etc.

.

I’m assuming (though there’s nothing explicit in the episode) that Clause 209 requires agreement by both roommates. Sheldon was willing to activate the clause because he was certain he’d have no trouble getting someone to pick up all of Leonard’s duties.

I did like this:

“Candles are a fire hazard. Pasadena Water & Power recommends [shake, shake, shake] the glow stick.”

[Leonard draws green light saber.] “You call that a glow stick? That’s not a glow stick. This is a glow stick.”

C’mon people. I think the last line will be a BBT classic: Froot Loops.

Sheldon and Burgess Meredith? Waakkk waakk waakk!

Though Penny and Sheldon moving in together would be almost as funny.

Yes, I suppose they are.

It was fun to have my memory refreshed with all of Sheldon’s “anti-hippy” comments. Hilarious!

While Mike Massimino isn’t likely to win an Emmy for that cameo, it was good that he at least read his lines well. So often when they have a real-world guest appearance the person’s line reading is on par with porn actors. “I am here to pipe the fix… thing”.

When Massimo showed up, I was, “I’ve seen that actor somewhere.” Then I realized I recognized him from an awesome NOVA episode, one where he became a mancrush, actually.

I loved the whole episode, you haters sucks.

When did Raj start being able to talk in front of women? He spoke out loud in the scene a couple of times when they were having dinner with Penny, Amy and Bernadette.

The director made sure to show Raj with a beer bottle in his hand.

Ah, missed that.

I seriously almost cannot stand this show anymore.

I love love love every character except Sheldon, and I hate hate hate him so much that it almost doesn’t equal the love of the other characters.

This episode was so stupid and unbelievable. I don’t care how cartoon-y you want a main character to be, or how “real life exaggerated” a sitcom is supposed to be…there is no one in the history of man who acts like he does. And there are no people in the history of man who would take/understand/be friends with him.

The show has morphed into “typical sit-com and Sheldon”. His story lines aren’t interesting, his quirkyness is just stupid and unbelievable and it’s as if his character is now just a sales pitch for T-shirts, catchphrases, and ways to act to make people laugh at you (not always in a good way)…and the rest of the cast is an actual sitcom.

I somewhat agree.

I have found that I hate episodes where Sheldon is being a tyrant (and Leonard’s being a spineless wimp), but like episodes where Sheldon is just being socially awkward (e.g. around Penny, who isn’t a spineless wimp to Sheldon’s demands)

So, in my ideal world, the show would get rid of Leonard (who is not funny anyway), and make up some sit-comy reason for Sheldon and Penny to spend more time together. While I’m at it, get rid of Amy, keep Raj and Howard, and finally cure Raj’s selective mutism.

they are definitely isolating sheldon as a supernerd and him being surrounded by normals. they could scale back sheldon but the rest of the nerd herd has to meet him halfway by re-geekifying themselves. otherwise the entire thing just seems silly.

You stopped knocking? That’s like the only good thing about you!

That got a grin. Most of the show was meh. Not the best, not the worst. And how did it take so long to go down to the basement and check the main power?

The comic book store scene was just awkward. It was like a battle to see who was more pathetic and they both won.

Enjoy,
Steven

Kind of like when Fonzie got all popular and “Happy Days” lost its way.

This episode wasn’t so bad, but I HATE the Leonard/Penny thing. The writers tried it, it wasn’t funny. Drop it. How about bringing back Zach, Penny’s friend. He fit in good with the gang. I’d love to see Leslie Winkle make an appearance but I doubt Sarah Gilbert would go for it.

I also hated the fact, the nickname was a steal from “Seinfeld.” George wanted to be T-Bone and got stuck with “Koko”
