The Big Bang Theory, October 24, 2013 -- "The Romance Resonance"

I concur to some extent.

Last week’s episode was literally forgettable. I was away from the board from Thursday for several days. When I got back and check on last week’s TBBT thread, I realized I remembered nothing about that episode. The thread just brought back a few hazy memories.

But this one at least had an undercurrent of a few nice touches here and there. E.g., Sheldon being disappointed at things like getting a raise.

The “Like mommies and daddies do.” line is a gem. That scene from AFF’s daydream to “Can’t talk, in the zone.” was great but too bad about the laugh track. (Note that they usually do the atom-swoosh thing when they do a complete change in scene. But on occasions like this, they have to do a simple scene change. Less “swoosh” is always better in my book.)

The initial shots of Howard playing the keyboard didn’t show his hands so I thought they were completely faking it. But then they switched and it did appear that he was playing decent approximation to the song. Brings back memories of him playing Bernadette at the Cheesecake Factory.

What I think everyone is missing is is Sheldon’s math was right but he was right on accident. He looked up a reference in a reference book and read it wrong and plugged in a number different than the one in the book but that wrong number was actually what he needed. Had he plugged in the number that was really in the book, his equation would have fallen apart. That was what burned him. He made a great discovery but didn’t actually earn it because it was an accident.

It’s all hand waving anyway but the story makes no sense otherwise for all the reasons everyone is pointing out.
