The Big Bang Theory 2/23--The Werewolf Transformation

Sheldon’s life is turned upside-down after his barber gets sick. Meanwhile, astronaut training causes Wolowitz to rethink his decision to go into space,.

The preview was very unsettling. Sheldon with bongos is just…wrong.

i didn’t see preview.

maybe Richard Feynman playing bongos was inspiration.

AFF needs to brush her teeth over the visualization of a shirtless guy on horseback.

The harp rendition of Dead or Alive was fun.

aff, ‘There isn’t a hair on my body i wouldn’t let this woman trim’.

still bi.

the chaos was all over. sheldon playing music after 10PM not in his place on the couch, trashing the room mate agreement.

What has AFF named her electric toothbrush, again?

I ate a butterfly.

Gerard

“My pee is like toothpaste!”

I didn’t love this episode, but that was pretty damned funny.

I guess it’s her version of “I’ll be in mah bunk”.

This one made me laugh. AFF just kills me how she goes one way and then the other, almost instantaneously. And she (the actress) learns the harp just for those scenes which gives her a cool point for me.

Is Kaley Cuoco growing her blonde out? It looks trashy, and this comes from someone who also dyed her hair blonde and then grew it out the same way. It’s still trashy looking. She needs to transition better.

Huzzah.

A shirtless Sheldon…shudder.

I thought the bongo playing was surprisingly good (inasmuch as bongo playing can be described as good). Whatshisname has some serious talent.

I liked the episode quite a lot, but it highlights a problem with all of Chuck Lorre’s shows: he rushes things. IMO, Chaos-Sheldon was hysterical–I’d have liked to see it last as a sub-plot* over a couple of episodes before it’s resolved.

I know the idea of the sitcom in the 60’s (which, IIRC from an interview with Lorre that I can’t find, is a lot of his inspiration…hence the obnoxious laugh-tracks) is “done in one”, but still…I’m not looking for season-long story arcs, but I wouldn’t mind a little slowing-down/decompression.

Imagine Sheldon refusing Amy’s haircut at the end of this episode. Then next week, Sheldon gets adventurous with food. He goes to, say, an Ethiopian restaurant and, after eating with his hands, decides that silverware is for ‘squares’. Build it up over a few episodes as he gets wilder and wilder until he’s about to “have coitus” with Amy Farah-Fowler and then bring the Chaos-Sheldon storyline to a (ahem) climax.
*Which would be more interesting than the Wallowitz one. We all know he won’t actually go into space–he’ll wash out of the program, lie about it, get caught, etc.

I must have been feeling peckish, because I LOL’ed lots of times during this episode. Loved how Sheldon kept swooping his hair like a rock star. Loved the bongoes.

AFF’s crush on poor Penny is getting more and more creepy.

Wolowitz’s calls home were hysterical, though I wish they’d have strung his training out for several more episodes.

The only thing that I didn’t like was Sheldon having to explain to the audience that he couldn’t run with scissors because it would have been unsafe. I’m confident that we could have figured that all on our own had he mimed the whole thing.

FYI, Jim Parsons was interviewed for Fresh Air back in 2010, if anyone is interested in listening to it.

I was slightly disappointed the word entropy didn’t come up when Sheldon discussed breaking some of his normal routines.

I really, really hope you’re wrong about this, though I fear you are not. I want Howard to get his space flight.

Yeah, I know he’s just a fictional sitcom character and all, but he’s so proud and happy to be an astronaut. To yank this away from him now would just feel wrong. Much more cruel than funny. Let him have his moment of glory.

I want him to go up, just to see him be hoist by his own petard.. erm… toilet. “This is* impossible!*”

I’d like to see him be semi-heroic on his space trip. Maybe whip up some engineering feat that not only fixes the toilet, but saves some part of the mission. That would maybe finally get him some respect from Sheldon.

Let’s not get carried away here. Howard could divert an asteroid that’s about to destroy the Earth and he’ll still get no respect from Sheldon. But that would be funny, not cruel.
