I don’t wear a hairpiece and my hair doesn’t move when I raise my eyebrows.
Of course I have so little hair up there now that I might just not be able to see it move.

I was going to say the same thing but I don’t recall my hair moving before my forehead got so big either.
It could just be because of his stupid eyebrows. You know, the ones Penny complained about in the beta version of their second relationship.
The laugh track used to really annoy me, but I learned to just ignore it and enjoy the episodes for what they were.
But this episode, it really stood out to me too. Seem to crop up for stuff that didn’t even seem like a joke. Just a pretty blah episode all-around.
Started off with a few nice chuckles then a long dryish spell. Then some more near the end. Almost an okay episode by the low recent seasons standards.
Again, the poorly written and integrated B story hurt the episode. They just need to either do a much better job on this or stop with the B stories completely.
Sheldon hurting himself and stupid limping was the low part of the show and then some. This isn’t that type of show and Jim Parsons isn’t that type of actor. Of course, dragging those bits on didn’t help at all.
There were a lot of jokes about Penny’s short hair in Season 8. It’s nice to have them refer back to it. But I don’t think they’re going to do jokes about Cuoco’s nose job (or other “fixes”).
Regarding the MacArthur awards. Think of these as “prizes” and not research grants. Like Nobel prize money and other similar awards, it’s just a gift that the winner can spend on what they like. That it goes to researchers and such doesn’t matter. (Even better, the universities don’t get to take out overhead!)
Hawking got a credit but not Ellen. Maybe they just bought some footage from her show?
Speaking of noses … Have they ever joked about Howard’s nose? They’ve joked about everything else, but I don’t remember any mention of that.
(BTW, I LOVE Howard’s nose.)
When he first learned Bernie was pregnant, he worried he would have his nose. And then got more worried thinking it might be a she.
The MacArthur Fellows Program got its nickname as the Genius Grants because they are given to such a diverse group of people. It’s hard to think of any other such awards with as large a range in the professions of the awardees. Take a look at the list of them in this article:
And when he and Raj sent away for those stupid mini-me dolls (right before they decided to sprint for a 3-D printer and Bernie put him on an allowance) the nose on Howard’s doll was almost offensively pronounced.
Thanks for the info about the MacArthur grants, everyone! Very interesting.
I thought Parson’s “trying to limp on both feet” walk was hilarious. He did an outstanding job.
ftg - I gotta say, this is a sitcom, not a soap opera. And if you’re waiting for the story to continue I can only say “Welcome to pregnancy” because it takes time. And while it’s happening, everyone touched by it goes slightly insane.
The episode was a good one IMHO, but the short length is really becoming a peeve for me. I feel cheated, and it’s getting worse instead of better. I thought the cable TV revolution was going to fix this problem? It’s only getting worse. Yes, I know this is network, but they are still getting cable money. The commercials were supposed to die down a little, not aggressively take over until they dominate the time slot.!
‘Almost’? There was more nose than doll!
