The Big Bang Theory 9/23 8:00 CBS--"The Robotic Manipulation"

Season premiere tonight!

Looking forward to it. This is now the one and only show that I officially follow.

(Apart from hockey.)

Yeah, I’m recording it. It conflicts with Bones, which I also watch, so I had to make a choice.

If they start making jokes about it being Thursday in the opening scene, I’m turning it off. That’s exactly what ruined Frasier too.

The spliced commercials about the move were very well done–funny and so totally geeky.

ETA: Also the last one with Sheldon building a transporter.

Howard: Wait! My food’s cold!

Jokes about Thursday?

Like on Buffy - “Dawn’s in trouble? Must be Tuesday.” A winking reference to the night the show is broadcast. I don’t mind such things at all.

Chicago Hope did it too, after being moved from Thursday to Tuesday. Of course, that was considered a witty nod to the audience in a show that normally played it straight.

The Big Bang had me cracking up with a joke about a pencil.

Ok, I don’t want to get specific and spoil anything for anyone not watching yet but there’s alot of funny going on in this episode.

Are there more commercials this year? Seemed like almost more ads than program!

Ep’s pretty good though.

I was a little worried that the move to an 8:00 time slot would mean they’d have to tone down some of the humor to be more family-friendly.

I think we’ve answered that question.

I love that Sheldon refers to his “not my girlfriend” by her full name of Amy Farrah Fowler. I also love that the character played by Mayim Bialik had a mother so obviously expecting another sort of child that she who would name her Farrah. Any idea if she is going to be a recurring character ala Leslie Winkel (Sarah Gilbert)?

“That would be a better compliment if you were homosexual.”

Loved the continuity of having Vernee Watson (a veteran “she was on that show with that other guy…” actresses) as the hospital reception clerk. (You may remember her from the ep when Howard tried to bribe her with “an introduction to the man who freed your people” (a $5 bill) and her character told him “Unless my people were freed by Ben Franklin and his 9 identical brothers get the hell away from me”).

I was afraid for a moment they were going to actually show Howard’s mother since it would have been a great way for her to walk on him. I’m glad they kept her unseen as nothing would meet the expectations.

“Winnie-the-Pooh is out of the honey tree.”

Loved the spit-take!

Howard and his mom screeching at each other makes me laugh so hard - I don’t know why.

"What do you mean “it happened again?”

This was the best season premier of this season.

That ether pun was real groan worthy.

How exactly was the announcer pronouncing “$#*! my Dad says”? I rewound it a couple of times to see if I could catch anything.

“Bleep my Dad says” is its official spoken title.

They could have just renamed it “Stuff my Dad says” or something, but they had to take it too far in the wrong direction.

Anyhoo, this was a great episode, with plenty of laughs. As was the cold opening on Craig Ferguson where they had a BBT sketch that broke the fourth wall, then commented on that, resulting in a very meta punchline.
