The Big Bang Theory, April 4, 2013 -- "The Tenure Turbulence"

So, what did you guys think about the episode ?

Boobies!

I think that if the show mishandled some nerd movie the way they handled how getting tenure works the world would freak out.

Yeah, it was pretty clear that they really didn’t have an idea on how tenure works.

That said, this was one of my favorite episodes, for two very good reasons.

Penny took off her coat and all I saw was a linebacker with extremely large pecs. Howard’s meerkat impression creeped me out in a way I cannot explain. I laughed out loud twice: Sheldon sleeping with Raj’s mom for a dollar and Raj’s second like-a-deer-in-booblights moment.

They are wasting Regina King.

She can tackle me anytime she wants. The boobies were great, but the dress should have been about 6" shorter.

Never thought I’d hear Sheldon tell Amy to get her breasts out. Some of the Sheldon-Amy dialogue was a little mean. She needs to open a can of whoop ass and use it on him.

If I were to give it a grade…only a “C”.

That’s what I thought. Yes, Sheldon is a douce to Amy and she takes it, we get it. It’s getting uncomfortable.

And I’m getting tired of Raj being such a whiner. If they can’t come up with any more interesting humor for the character each week than a grown man crying in a funny accent … time to let him go.

I thought Penny and her mammaries looked fantastic, as well! More skimpy costumes for Kaley Cuoco, please…
And yes, Sheldon is a bit mean to Amy. He’s mean to everyone. I’m not sure if he realizes it, though.

Amy is changing. Before, she would have been staring at Penny’s boobage with the same adoration as Raj (who has seen them unfettered, anyway.) Now she looked more pissed off than envious or admiring.

They better be bringing back Micucci for the last couple of episodes or I’m gonna be peeved.

I think she was probably pissed off because Penny was using them for ‘evil’ not ‘good’.

Perhaps it’s a girl thing with the linebacker look because I said the same to my husband while the show was on and he said, and I quote, “Huh?. . Wha. . .? Oh, yeah. Maybe it’s the shoulders.” But I could tell he was not looking at her shoulders.
Another funny bit was: Let me go over here and tie my shoelace while you think about that.

Like everyone, I liked the boobies, but I was turned off by a lot of other stuff.

Sheldon being an ass to Amy is getting old - she could get someone else that would be more in line with what she wanted, and putting up with Sheldon is getting old. Sure, it’s a shtick, but it’s stretching disbelief even more than the rest of the show.

Raj being a huge crybaby and rich too boot also needs to go. The guy is 30, time to grow up.

I thought Howard and meerkats was hilarious.

Sheldon and the HR lady was also terrible. Sure, he’s clueless, but not that clueless. It’s just awkward.

Sadly, we all know none of them will get tenure (or the show’s bizarre version of tenure) because then things wouldn’t be same.

Honestly, at this point Penny just needs to drag Amy to a bar and help her pick a one night stand. Amy might stand up to Sheldon at that point.

Amy has Gerard. She doesn’t need a one-night stand. Orgasms she has, what she wants is intimacy.

Agree on the meerkats.

Tenure would solve Raj’s visa problems.

Penny was in control.

This was a great episode about Penny’s boobs.

The wife was wondering how many gel lifts they wedged under Kaley’s boobs to keep them that high. I’m sure the dress was at least 2 sizes too small on top as well.

Hated this episode. None of these guys is actually a professor of any sort, AFAICT. There’s no evidence they ever teach a class. I thought they were all research faculty, which means their jobs depend on getting grants. The whole tenure thing made zero sense, which completely distracted me from enjoying any of the jokes.

I’m also finding the humor increasingly relying on misogynist stereotyping of women (and men). I’m getting close to giving up on the show entirely.

Although having Sheldon being passed over in favour of either Leonard or Raj could be interesting.

Also I wonder if they will touch Carmine Infantino’s death, considering Sheldon’s attachment to The Flash.

So how does tenure work that was so far off? I didn’t see where they indicated how tenure worked except to say there was a committee to determine who should be eligible.
