Howard Stern has left the terrestrial airwaves.
I’m not moving to Sirius with him. I like him but I don’t like him enough to buy a bunch of crap and subscribe to something I would only use for an hour a day.
But I am glad my parents bought Sirius stock two or so years ago.
Yawn.
(Not a knock on the OP, but on Howard “I beleive I am the Savior of all humanity” Stern.)
I think some people take Stern far more seriously than he takes himself.
I listened to some of his farewell broadcast this morning and though he clearly has some real hatred for the FCC and ClearChannel, I didn’t think for a second that he believed himself to be the saviour of humanity or all free speech for that matter. He was clearly shilling his move and was doing his best to entice his audience to follow him to pay radio, but nothing more than that. It was a well orchistrated and long awaited media circus of his own doing. Can’t blame the guy for trying.
I do wonder if being able to say “fuck, shit, piss, cock and cunt” is going to be that intersting when there is no-one to catch him at it.
I think this move is going to see him fade from fame. It’s the wrong thing to do as far as popularity for him. He’ll be outside the mainstream public eye. Of course, at 100M a year for five years, I would take the deal and laugh all the way to the bank too.
Can’t wait to hear David Lee Roth fail miserably and slip into oblivion as well. It’s about time.
Biggest media event of the year says who? Says Stern?
BFD.
True. I saw him on the Daily Show, and he was still doing the I’m-poor-Davey-against-theiFCC-Goliath schtick I’ve seen him do pretty much every time I’ve ever seen him. It’s just stupid when he does nothing but make dick & lesbo jokes.
I’m curious to see whether a lot of his listeners will follow him to satellite radio and whether Siruis’s big bet on him pays off.
Doesn’t his show get old after a few years or even immediately?
I listened to little this morning and I realized the last time I did listen Jackie Martlin was still on it and they said that was 5 years ago.
I enjoyed Howard’s show for its outrageousness but I guess it got boring after a while. I doubt that it was due to my maturing any.
