There is the “secret forum.” Where the most offensive post go. You may never see it. But, one day, if you are really lucky, you may find yourself there.

I did once. I clicked the Forum Jump arrow and found a forum I had never heard of. I went there and found the craziest posts. Written by some of the craziest people. Alas, much like Holly, when that strange pyramid portal gave her the opportunity to return to earth from the “Land of the Lost,” chose only to observe, but not leave because of Marshall and Will. I have never been able to see that forum again. I went to a Houston Dopefest shortly afterward where a wise mentor doper informed me that I had the wondorous luck of leaping through a top secret restricted portal where only the most offensive posts are allowed.

The lesson to be learned is that true opportunities of offensive, arcane anarchy are rare. You MUST be prepared to reap the benefits.

This happened over two years ago. I am puzzled as to how a lowly knave as I was even able to enter this weird, wonderful place. Yet my unintended entry has likely closed that passage permanently.

Hey, I agree with you Incubus. You shouldn’t expect anymore replies in agreement though, because from the attitude of the posts in this thread it’s likely those that feel the same way as you have been banned or have left on their own accord.

Still. This is appealing in it’s own way. Everyone is basically forced into a semblance of civility… you can see this in ‘Great Debates’ where people only allow the invective to slip in every once in awhile when they are REALLY angry. Of course, most of it seems to spill out here in ‘The Pit’. Hence the necessity for endless rants to burn off steam.

Anyway. Usenet is good, but you have to be able to deal with and actually enjoy trolls and assholes like Fenris. Trolls are easy, it’s the people who want to speak for everyone that really get you. You can either argue endlessly with them(they never think they are wrong) or ignore them. Depends on your mood.
