So you’ve not read the latest issue, then?
Not a rat.

Not a rat.
Definitely a rat!
Anybody else disappointed in this?
My wife is a huge Buffy fan, and she has yet to purchase the fourth installment of the comic book. The writing is weak, the story confusing (how they went from the final episode of BtVS where everybody is homeless and broke, looking at a hole in the ground that used to be their town, to some sort of worldwide paramilitary operation in a matter of months… huh?), and merely because they can show more explicit scenes/dialogue doesn’t necessarily mean they have to (a complaint from a woman who hoped to share these with her daughter).
I kind of agree with her… it’s just not that good.
I’m loving it! Great writing, great artwork, and my complaint is that they don’t go far enough with the explicit scenes/dialogue. They still have to get it past Dark Horse’s editors, which means no nudity or swearing. Whish is a pity, because that scene at Andrew’s could have used some more skin!
The new Big Bad is interesting, and they are playing with the mythos in a way I like. Go, Joss!
I don’t like 'em. I’ve read all four so far, and each one ends with me more confused than ever. I don’t know if it’s my inexperience with comics in general or what, but I can’t ever tell what’s going on.
All it does is make me wish they’d bring the show back, maybe with a larger ensemble cast, and call it The Slayers.
It might be a bit too self-referencing for its own good, but I’m enjoying the series. I do think it’ll read better in the inevitable trades (my guess is they’ll start announcing them soon; every six months is standard practice these days).
Dark Horse says that Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Long Way Home will be released in November.
I’ll probably buy it. But I don’t regret buying the individual comics.
I just came into this thread to say that I met Georges Jeanty over the weekend, at the Toronto Comic Con, and he is, in fact, made of awesome.
Carry on.
Figured I’d resurrect this thread, as I just bought and read them. I enjoyed them quite a bit, but I didn’t get the bit in issue 4 when Buffy confronts Amy and tells her she saw something in her dream, and it was Buffy’s mom, or something, and it distracts Amy long enough for Buffy to throw a grenade at her, but it’s non-fatal? Wtf?
And did we figure out who kissed Buffy? I mean, it has to be Xander, right?
I assumed it Was Amy’s Mom, not Buffy’s Mom, but yeah weird stuff
Almost seems too obvious. Makes me wonder if it was Willow.
It was Amy’s mom, not Buffy’s. Amy had some serious Mommy issues dating back to Episode 2.
It was the other Slayer who threw the grenade, which bounced off two walls before landing at Amy’s feet.
Probably a concussion grenade, as they didn’t want Buffy hit by shrapnel.
Amy was floating and powered-up, so the blast wouldn’t take her out, just distract her.
My guess is that both Xander and Willow bent to kiss Buffy, knocked heads, and then some random Slayer did it.
All the Watcher money and holdings had to go somewhere.
IIRC the comic starts something like 18 months after Buffy ended, not later that year like a normal season. It comes after the end of the Angel series. So, they had more than just a few months though it would still be an impressive accomplishment. Am I wrong?
Good point. Giles is pretty much the last of that organization with any level of authority, and there had to be a way for him to get access to the bank accounts and property (that didn’t get all blowned up.)
No, you are correct. With access to the Watcher’s funds, with no more overhead than buying Marmite for the Coven in Dorchestershire, they could have an organization up within that time frame. Especially since they would also likely now own all of the Council’s properties, blowed up or not. Like that castle in Scotland…
[del]How do I narrow it down to just the “season 8” books - when I search on Buffy they give me a lot of Angel books and a lot of Buffy books. but what are the titles to which this thread is referring?[/del]
never mind :smack:
