It’s simple. When you’re The Big Guy on The Throne and all that billions of souls do is worship you all day, you have to make your own fun.
I have a feeling the Holy Spirit never even passed the Bar.
This reminds me of my devote Mormon aunt who sold her house and got really screwed over by a dishonest buyer. She thought that the contract was funny but rather than consult an attorney, she prayed about it and felt the spirit tell her it was OK.
God may be a great God, but he sure gives lousy legal advice.
.
“I sent a canoe, a rescue boat and a helicopter! What more do you want me to do?”
Considering it could have turned into a Waco or Ruby Ridge, the fact that the whole thing was closed down with only one death is a great outcome. Both the FBI and Oregon state LEO’s should be praised for their patience and tactics.
And the LDS church itself has a legal department, of course. Believers just don’t fucking think.
Yes, but it’s even worse than that. The very same right-wingers (or people “with friends in the Bronx who like to ask questions”) who
[ul][li] object to police shooting a white-skinned criminal reaching for a gun who’s already announced to the world he intends to kill cops[/li][/ul]
are often the very same people who
[ul][li] defend the police who kill unarmed black-skinned citizens on very vague suspicions.[/li][/ul]
And these people are allowed to vote. I’m beginning to think we can look forward to a President Trump after all.
You make the unfounded assumption that there are a lot of those people. Remember that that Schickelgruber fella did not gain control of his nation by winning the votes of a majority of the citizens: it seems like there was a bit of the old Spiele und Betrügerei involved. I am not convinced that the trump is all that wily (or popular).
And there is evidence for that, Trump is popular enough among Republicans, but not popular enough for all Americans.
http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/pollster/2016-general-election-trump-vs-clinton
The usual caveat is that it is still early, and the democratic numbers can go down, but even Nate Silver was wrong by thinking the same about Trump among the Republicans. So it is interesting is that the pollsters got the general trend about Trump right and early, and more importantly: the same pollsters matching polls of Clinton (or even Bernie) vs Trump show the democrat ahead, and for “ages” already.
One more thing: The most recent polls show Clinton increasing the old constant lead she had over Trump of about 5 points to 10 now, and it is clear that the people is taking into account not only the recent behavior of Trump, but also that all the “scandals” launched at Clinton are more likely being seen as exaggerations by most of the people.
OK, this is written knowing full well that the matter is still under investigation, so it could very well be different, but it looks like the FBI agents could very well have fucked this up.
From the link, you can see the video, and as they explain:
If you watch the video, the shooter did fire on LaVoy as he had his hands raised, just fucking like the Bundy bunch alleged. Of course, we know now that this shot missed and he was shot while reaching for his gun, so his shooting was justifiable, but the people in the truck would not have known that. It may turn out that their accounts weren’t simply as crazy as we assumed.
For the people in the truck, they watch LaVoy step out, raise his hands to surrender and then hear the gunshot, feel it hit the truck and blow out the window. They duck, a few seconds later more shots and LaVoy is dead. It sure as hell would seem that the Feds murdered him.
Dammit all the hell. I really wanted this to be a good story of the government bending over backwards to make sure everything was clean, and now they’ve given these crazy people just more ammunition (no pun intended) to claim conspiracies.
It pissed me off every time a cop kills an unarmed civilian, and while they did shoot him while he was reaching for his gun, this could very well have ended differently if they hadn’t opened fire.
Yes, he should have surrendered peacefully before. He shouldn’t have done a zillion things which brought them to that point, but you don’t simply shoot people who are surrendering. If that fucking idiot weren’t such a lousy shot, it could very well have been a case of murder.
Why oh why didn’t they fess up to the shot? I hope whoever did it and if anyone helped cover it up faces charges.
And yes, I still believe Bundy & Sons are fucking idiots who deserve every year of prison they get. I think LeVoy should have been in jail as well. It just pisses me off that this happened and that someone or some ones are lying about it.
Well, I’d be really concerned about the shots the FBI agent fired, except for the fact that Finicium wasn’t surrendering, not by any stretch of the imagination. When he gets out of the truck, you can hear him continue his mantra of “go ahead and shoot me!”, and he runs around like a nut. Those aren’t the words and actions of someone who’s surrendering.
Not to mention, the shots already started before the truck was in the snowbank. One of the state police armed with a rifle had already shot the truck three times after it crossed the line of being able to stop before hitting the road block.
Another 170 pages of shooting investigation has been released. This one includes testimony from Officer #3 who was coming out of the woods with a taser. pdf file
Also, it turns out those two AR-15s under Finicum’s rear truck seat belonged to him. He was more heavily armed than I would have imagined.
Linda Fiore: The Bundys were just camping at Malheur. No more occupying it than Obama is occupying the White House.
I’d love it if somebody would point out to her that she was the one who unwittingly lured Cliven Bundy to Oregon where the FBI could nab him without a fuss.
Are you absolutely sure it was “unwittingly”? I am beginning to suspect some kind of operative here.
If she’s acting she deserves an Emmy. The woman is some kind of comic genius.
There are some people where you think, “no way they are that stupid.” Then there are people like Michele Fiore.
Staten Island?
Here is the Las Vegas Sun article, complete with the video of the interview. Fiore does not have the Palin/Bachmann stare, but the way she talks. “If you’re going to shoot me, I’m going to shoot you back.” Umm. There seems to be, perhaps, a slight gap in the logic, there.
