Well, I’m not Hunter Thompson; nobody wants to read a 17 page screed from me. And you’re right, I was being serious. Sorry.
He has appeared to be strong on the education issue (Bosda’s recent post in the thread in question shows why some people are not altogether thrilled about NCLB), which is always good (and fairly safe) for a politician to do.
He has not caused any damage to the Alfred P. Murrah building, though after the (continuing) military episodes in the Middle East, one can only imagine what someone might do in retribution.
He has not given me an STD, which is always good.
Some of the religious folks sure do like him a whole bunch, and appealing to the masses is right in line with what a politician is supposed to do. One hopes for his benefit that it’s enough of a mass.
He truly has shown me that it’s not what you know (is it subliminal? Subliminable?) but who you know (“Hey, Dad? Could I be President? I really wanna! I think God wants me to be President, and you know we don’t say no to God unless there’s oil involved…”) that determines success.
Well, to bring up something that caused a lot of controversy when someone else said it in a thread posted on a gay muscle site, Dubya is kinda. . . hot.
He works out regularly and he looks like he has a muscular body with a nice chest and a cute butt. He’s definitely a good-looking man, so I’ll bet he keeps Laura happy.
-
He extended unemployment benefits. That means he gave money to lazy liberal loafers who couldn’t be arsed to find a job. No small feat for an ultra-conservative.
-
He showed support for space exploration. Crazy and impractical ideas, and his support was short-lived, but hey, it’s still better than most other presidents.
and thirdly…
uh…

Gee, thanks for some mental imagery that I really didn’t need. I now have to scrub my brain with a brillo pad.
Ooh, ooh, ooh (raises hand)
Just thought of one. Since it’s generally agreed that Bush is an idiot, it shows that a degree from Harvard really isn’t such a big deal after all! Non-Harvard grads, tell me that isn’t good.

Nope. No chimpanzee-loving for me.
His nephew (the one George H. W. Bush called “the little brown Mexican-looking one”), however, is imminently fuckable, as are his two daughters (in a drunken, slutty sorority sister kind of way).

Without even realizing it, THAT was my 1,000th post! Woo-hoo!
And tdn, how is that different than Hillary being referred to as hot? gobear - future leader of Log Cabin Republicans!
He works out regularly.
Yeah, there’s that, too. No matter how hectic the schedule, how terrific the strain of his Presidential position, he makes sure that he sets aside plenty of time every day to get in an extensive physical exercise program. It’s kinda along the same lines as Maureen’s citing of his vacationing prowess.
Interesting thread. It’s nice to see the Bush bashing horde on the SDMB get creative once in a while.
It’s so boring just reading the dozens of Bush bash fests that get posted week after week that have no imagination, no inspiration to them at all.
I’ve got some ideas for fun Bush bashing threads you should all try once this one gets played out:
- Bash Bush using only single syllable words.
- Bash Bush while imitating the writing style of your favorite author.
- Bash Bush and Hi Opal!
- Bash Bush with pig latin.
- Bash Bush without making outragious hyperbolic claims and comparing his administration to the Third Reicht. (Better keep Reeder away from this one.)
You get the idea. It’s good to keep busy and I think it will help many of you retain your sanity as the country re-elects Bush this year. Or, maybe not. But, in any case, it will certainly be fun to watch!

Well…now…he never has held up hundreds of the little people by shutting down LAX for a couple hours to get a haircut. I doubt he’s the only Prez to take quite a few days off for vacation. Which, if you’re honest, aren’t vacations. They get multiple briefings no matter where they are, and if you’re honest you’ll admit that a Prez never really gets time off.

All the while totally fucking the system up, making schools more, not less dependent on Federal funds and forcing said schools to teach year-round just so they can all learn how to pass the NCLB testing. Not good, even if safe.
On the other hand, he reminds us almost daily how great America is and how much god loves us!

Sorry, no, I have no interest in being the bottom in an abusive relationship. The LCR are a contemptible pack of quislings with no sense of self-regard or of common decency.
And I kind view Bush’s hotness likeJeffery Dahmer, who was totally my physical type but just a tad too dangerous to date.
And tdn, how is that different than Hillary being referred to as hot?
I can see I’m going to need more brillo pads.
And I’ll get you back for that. Right now.
Close your eyes, and imagine licking jello…
…off of Janet Reno’s ass.

This has to somehow warrant a banning. This is wrong on so many levels. I hate you. I hate you so very much.
(Great comeback) high-5
As much as I don’t agree with most of his policies, decisions, ideas, etc., I must admit that I’m quite impressed with his presence. Bill Clinton had presence. He dominated a room. People couldn’t take their eyes off of him. Bush Jr. comes pretty damn close. Also, the people are attracted to him because he reminds you of the nice uncle that everyone has and everyone trusts. Sure, he’s clownish and just plain dumb at times. But he’s always smiling, and is good-natured even when everything around him is crumbling. I seriously think that he’ll get re-elected based ONLY on these qualities that I’ve listed. No one is going to vote their nice uncle out of office.

I’d have to agree. I’ve seen both Bush and Kerry in the wild, and I have to say there’s no comparison, charisma-wise. Bush oozes charisma like infected pus.

I’ve never really understood the “Degree from Harvard/Yale/Stanford/top college of your choice=absolute genius” connection. I’ll tell you, I knew people at Oxford who were dumb as rocks. (And some days, I think I’m the one who’s dumb as a rock.) Or, more commonly, people who knew how to do one thing–what they were studying–very well, but were clueless about just about everything else.
The fact that Bush, or anyone else, has an MBA from a top school means just that–they have been well trained in, and have shown a modicum of competancy, in the fundamentals of business. So, bravo to GWB on that.
See…the misspellings in my post prove that the dim can survive Oxford! :smack:
Earlier this week, I was posting on another board in a thread that was linked to a story about GWBush on the campaign trail. He was introduced to a young girl who’s mother was killed in the 9/11 attacks. Her dad snapped a picture of GW embracing the child.
I made the remark that it was quite a photo-op with “heartwarming story” to boot.
Unfortunately, I posted this thought on a board that QUITE loves the man.
I was accused of hating the President how I could not see his compassion.
I followed by saying that I never stated I hate the man nor did I doubt that “Shrub” had compassion.
OOhhhh…
Others then accused me of “name-calling” for using the term Shrub.
I followed by saying that I viewed the term “Shrub” as a winking reference to GWBush… you know, the 'younger Bush… a shrub… get it?"
They didn’t …get it.
And, IMHO, here’s the really funny part…
One of the posters definitely found my use of “Shrub” most definitely offensive.
So much that she wrote the following line (I kid you not!)
“To me a Shrub is a little scubby nuisance bush you cut down.”
