Well, not according to Liberal supporters who lead in the polls. I’m pretty sure this guy will be our next Prime Minister; a pretty boy, an intellectual light weight. I respect disagreement but I’m not sure I want this guy talking to Putin, Merkel, Cameron, Obama, etc. Really?
Yes, he is in over his head. What the fuck were the Liberals thinking with this guy, as opposed to Marc Garneau for example. Totally of of touch with reality.
And I know we have lots of Liberal supporters here, so I’m not picking a fight, I’m just putting forth my position.
Feel free to bash the conservatives accordingly; they also deserve abuse.
Heh. I should elaborate. I’m ‘sure’ he will be an embarrassment. I’m baffled that anyone at all would doubt that. When a person’s sole qualification for the position is that his father once held it, then what you have is a monarchy, not a democracy.
And considering we already have a Queen who has dopey kids that we have no control over, I’m not sure why we need to duplicate that in Parliament with those we have the ability to elect.
The ski hill the next road over is closed. Why you might ask, given that we are waist deep in snow with temps holding at a bit below freezing? Too much ice was the reason given.
What type of ice you might ask? The snow-ice mix that is ideal for carving fast, clean turns.
Actually, that’s a terrible idea - Justin Trudeau against Putin would be like a baby versus a grizzly bear.
Yeah, I don’t see Justin doing well on the international stage - his father made a hobby of baiting US Americans, but I don’t see the former Prime Minister’s intellect and charisma in his son. He seems like a nice enough guy, but that’s not what you need in a country’s leader.
I’m not trying to provoke the Conservative supporters in this thread, either, but - the grain shipments are screwed, the health care accord just expired with nothing to take its place, and there isn’t a single, credible voice coming out in support of the Fair Elections Act.
Compared to which, a potential Prime Minister who said ‘Fuck’ in public is supposed to generate outrage? I’m surprised a lot more people aren’t saying ‘Fuck’!!
I, quite frankly, don’t like Trudeau; but it would be a refreshing change of pace to have a PM that isn’t irrationally paranoid against: the press, the academia, the bureaucracy, the governmental system of procedural checks/balances, the house, other parties, the public, etc.
The only people/group the PM doesn’t fear is his own party members and that’s only because the PM’s office has strict oversight/control over all of their public actions to a near military style level.
This is a party that has no desire/motivation/vision beyond the last election. It’s like they were so happy to get a majority government (through Harper’s leadership) that they forgot about trying to win the next one.
I don’t get the obsession with Marc Garneau. He was an astronaut, great. That doesn’t mean he’d make a good Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, the Parti Quebecois’ henchmen are now pretty openly engaging in some of the most blatant vote suppression in the history of Canada, regularly rejecting the eligibility of people whose names aren’t French enough.
Well, he also has a Ph.D and was a naval captain. I just think he’s more suited to the world stage; that’s all. And certainly more leadership experience.
It doesn’t matter what they provide as proof, because according to the bigots since they’re an out of province non francophone student they’re not going to be nor never will be real Quebecers anyways. Even if they do in fact plan to live here, based on the current laws they should be allowed to vote.
I’ve ran into this “not a real Quebecer” mentality before personally, and I speak pretty good French. It wasn’t as ugly and violating as being revoked your basic right to vote but it’s here.
What’s kind of not surprising about the voting suppression issue, I believe the Ottawa/Feds have a responsibility at some point to investigate if any monkey business is taking part at the provincial level that goes unresolved. But nothing has happened yet, and I predict nothing will ever happen, business as usual.
Spring has officially arrived. I spent an hour in a golf shirt after work plowing the drive with a riding blower. We’re not even getting another snowstorm until tomorrow night.
