The Canadope Café 2016: The North Awakens

No. Gordon Downie is dying - Glioblastoma. That is dominating the news.
:frowning:

He may have some time left in him. The doctor has noted the tumor is smaller than it was in December, and I know of at least one person who survived for four years with this.

That they are going on tour soon suggests he is not at death’s door.

Huff Post has a cheeky take on elbowgate: Justin Trudeau’s House Of Commons Incident Gets Canada Some Worldwide Coverage

No one will be happier to see an end to 'Elbowgate"…than I !!!

Oh, so you’re just acting like it wasn’t all your fault???

TBNewsWatch.com ain’t much, but better than the rest.

I guess we will see. I am still pretty choked up about this.

The Hip are playing July 22 in Victoria BC and July 24th in Vancouver. I may do both concerts. I missed seeing Spirt of the West’s last show a month or so ago, so I need to see at least one. (Also, I lived in Thunder Bay most of my life, where the Hip famously did not play because the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium was too small and the Fort William Gardens was too??? ) I saw them in Montreal in the late 80s though.

Anyone up for a Canadoper Dope fest before or after either of the BC dates?

All depends on timing:

I don’t discuss that promoter at all. Ever. My mother taught me better than that.

I am looking at both the Edmonton and Winnipeg shows

I didn’t know you lived in Winnipeg. I may be one of the few people around that love Winnipeg. I lived there in 1999-2000 and I love everything about it except the winters and the mosquitos.

One of the clerks was talking to one of the Geraldton evacuees today, who was a Ft. Mac evacuee.

Some folks are followed by a little black cloud, but this guy is followed by forest fires.

You might recognize our Ambassador to the Republic of Ireland.

I like this guy. Russia only has Putin. We have Vickers.

MPSIMS thread. Our Man in Dublin, indeed.

So what you’re saying is that you hate Winnipeg? :stuck_out_tongue:

I kid, I kid.

She just doesn’t like it during winter and the fabled Winnipeg mosquito season. That must leave about a week or two each spring and fall where she finds it a lovely city. :stuck_out_tongue:

One good thing about the winters, no mosquitoes.

True, but flat is flat, which takes much of the fun out of winter.
