The problem with these is that you always get a pull-down list of what someone else decided were the top issues. The top issue for me is the economy and the relative strength of the US Market versus Europe, China, India, etc. But my choices were stuff like the Patriot Act, the war in Iraq (which I didn’t support in the beginning, but I"m not sure our wisest current option is an immediate withdrawl), Gay Marriage (which is of almost no importance to me although I am for it), etc, etc.
So this matches me with Dennis Kucinich, who I’m fairly likely to never, ever vote for, and a couple of other guys I’ve not even heard of. I can live with the guys I’ve not heard of, for now, but it’s unlikely that they actually match what I feel is important.
Not likely to vote in a US election (being British and all) but:
Bill Richardson 83%, then Christopher Dodd, Mike Gravel and Hillary Clinton. Oh well, at least I’ve heard of one of them. Apparently I support Duncan Hunter and Sam Brownbeck around 1% each. After looking at their websites I think that overstates the case.
Addendum: I see you folks saying you’re an 80-something percent match with one candidate or another, and I get the feeling I’m very cagey in my political views. My top match, Gravel, is only at 13.39 percent. McCain is last on my list at 0.39 percent.
Texas Representative Ron Paul ® 75.83% match (Expected)
Colorado Representative Tom Tancredo ® - 63.33% ( Bleagh!)
Arizona Senator John McCain ® - 53.33% ( Ehhh…kinda sorta…better than most of the other GOP candidates)
Former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel (D) - 51.67% ( Kooky and outspoken! Like Paul but with a Democratic flavor :p)
Not surprisingly, Hillary and Rudy were at the bottom of my barrel.
So yeah, looks like hit or miss here. I have no idea why Tancredo is so far up there, I find the guy pretty reprehensible.

A friend sent me this earlier. I matched 90% with that reforming plagiarist, blowhard, past-his-prime senator from Delaware, Joe Biden, although I think my views are closer to Barack Obama. The mods don’t want me to link to it, but I’m running for President myself (look for the thread here in MPSIMS), and I tend to agree with myself, so my choice is clear…
I was surprised last time to find that Al Sharpton was my perfect candidate even though I had never taken him seriously. But, since I never take myself seriously either, this should have been no surprise.
I guess I’ll need to look into this election when I am ready, but right now I’m just Biden my time ((83.64%))
Mike Gravel (D) - 83.10%
Barack Obama (D) - 70.42%
John Edwards (D) - 67.61%
Bottom of the Barrel
Mitt Romney ® - 12.68%
Tom Tancredo ® - 12.68%
Duncan Hunter ® - 7.04% (couldn’t tell you who this guy is with a gun to my head)
Fred Thompson ® - 4.23%
My top match was also Gravel (76.6%). However, I was unimpressed by him in the debate I saw, and will probably go with my #2 Obama (73.4%). They were followed by John Cox (68.1%) and Edwards (66.0%).
Who the hell is “Businessman John Cox ®”??
Interesting that Fed Thompson, my former senator, came in dead last for me (31.9%).
