Or why I should have listened to Crunchy Frog…

After a season of chasing the Astros and for a brief shining moment, my beloved Cubs, the Cards pulled it of at season’s end.
With strong performances from Drew, Edmonds and McGuire, the Carsd are on their way to possibly their tenth World Series victory.
BTW, I should always bow to Crunchy’s baseball knowledge. He was right and I was wrong.
As Cubs fans learn to say from birth, here’s to next year.

hardygrrl, I hesitate to interrupt your public abasement, but the Cards finished second in the NL Central behind the Astros.

Of course, they finished ahead of the Cubs, as is only right.

But hey, the Cubs won in all in '08!

Well, technically, we tied the Astros for best record in the NL. We’re in the Wild Card spot because there was no one-game playoff this year and the Astros beat the Cards 9-7 in the regular season series.

And a strong performance by McGwire this year? What games were you watching? And no mention of Pujols? He carried this team through Drew’s injury and Edmonds’s slump with a bad shoulder.

Although I won’t go so far as pick the Cards for the WS Champs this year.

Crunchy, FYI, MLB will not do a one game playoff for seeding purposes. It will only be used for two or more teams tied for an actual playoff spot. Since both the Astros and Cards were in the playoffs, no 1 game playoff needed.

Yeah, well, this is all very interesting and stuff, but how ‘bout them Braves?!? 10 Division titles in a row AND kicked the Astros butt in game 1! More offense in the last 6 games than in the first 156 combined! We’re peakin’, baby!

AHA! The Cards are the NL Central Division Champs!

Well, we’re the co-champions at least. The recordbooks will show it that way, not as the Cards being the #2 team in the division, according to a MLB official.

As for this doormat thing, Crunchy Frog, I would just remind you of the year the Cardinals had the Braves in the NLCS 3 games to 1 . . . I just can’t remember what happened. Could you please remind me?:wink:

Yeah, yeah, in '96 the Braves came back to go to the WS, but at least the Cards made it interesting. Last year the Braves rolled on their backs faster than a $3 whore getting a five-spot waved in her face. :wink:

No it isn’t. You have a whole post season to go. I still haven’t gotten the pic of you in a Cards hat. And are you unable to find the info for the Post-Dispatch online? Cuz I haven’t seen any ad from you in the paper yet either. :stuck_out_tongue:
