The Celebrity Death Pool 2006

Yahooooooo!!!

Two weeks in and two scores - 43 points.

I think that beats last years total.

It appears that Art Bell’s wife has passed beyond the rim…

I am forever scared and enthralled by the phrase

“I lost my virginity to Shelly Winters…”

Y’know, I’ve always wanted to listen to his show…where does one do such a thing?

More morbid DP musing:

The news announcer on my local affiliate this morning: “Some sad news out of Hollywood today…”
Me, thinking, excitedly: “Oh, cool, someone famous died. Who died?!? I hope it’s someone on my list!!”

News announcer: “… Shelley Winters passed away…”

Me: “Aww, damn. I didn’t have her. Oh, and I guess it’s a shame she died. I liked her.”
Sick, sick, sick.

Sheikh Jaber will not be down for breakfast

I’m reading reports that she was 83, not 85. Can we get a ruling on this one, please?

If you want to listen to delayed broadcasts of Coast to Coast AM, the show originated by Art Bell (but now primarily hosted by George Noory), you can find links along the left side of this page. You (in the universal, or at least USA-dwelling, sense of the word) may also try clicking your state on the map provided on this page (although you, Shirley, should find the list conveniently set to your particular slice of the country).

By the way, thanks for your offer to send text updates to me while I was in Florida. If I take another extended trip out of Indiana, I just might see if you’re still interested in providing the service…

According to IMDb, Shelley Winters was born August 18, 1920. Anyone have a different date?

The New York Times lists a birth date of August 18, 1922.

Rule #5 of the OP seems to cover this:

So (barring discovery of a birth certificate which documents a pre-1920 arrival for Ms. Winters) Shelley’s worth 15 points to anybody who picked her.

DP Text Messages…just one more service I offer.

ACBG (that’s the boyfriend for those of you who still don’t understand the importance of keeping up with the minutiae of my life) just called me a sicko cause I said I was disappointed about Shelly Winters dying because I almost put her on my Death Pool list. He just does not understand the importance of such things.

Also, I see a mini controversy blossoming here. I can just see the Pit thread on her birth date now.

swampy, I just thought that the New York Times is more of an authority than the IMDB. Hell, I’ve put information in there that stayed for awhile concernng the birth date of an obscure actor who’s parents I knew. It stayed on there for almost a year until it was corrected. Hardly the last word in cites, to my way of thinking.

I know what you’re sayin’ Sean. However, my warped mind is enjoying playing out the pit thread over her date of birth. It’s a weird world, but it’s my world.

Gerald Ford Is in the Hospital again.

Gerald Ford is first on my list. This will probably mean that he will live to be a thousand now. I see from the article he’s responding to treatment and is expected to be released from the hospital on Thursday. I’m glad for him. Who knows, maybe he’ll trip over his feet on the way to the car.

I took him off my list figuring there would be a log jam when he croaks.

I like to be an individual in my dead people picks.

Which is why I jumped on the Lou Rawls Orgy Wagon. Thanks, NurseCarmen!

Yeah, I know Shirley. I just figured he’d be an easy one and I wanted some easy ones this being my first time and all. I hear they’re gentler.

Popping your cherry on Lou Rawls is much better than Pope John Paul II.
