The Celebrity Death Pool 2009

Norm Van Lier, who was named to the National Basketball Association’s first or second all-defensive team eight times and was selected for three of the league’s All-Star Games, has died at the age of 61. Van Lier, who spent the bulk of his pro career with the Chicago Bulls, had been working as one of the team’s broadcasters before he failed to show up Wednesday night. He was found dead in his apartment Thursday morning.

Another “voice of the Bulls”, Johnny “Red” Kerr, has passed away at the age of 76. In the 1966-67 season, Kerr had been the expansion Chicago team’s first head coach. During his playing days, he led the University of Illinois Fighting Illini to the NCAA Final Four in 1952, helped the Syracuse Nationals to the 1954 NBA championship, and set the NBA record (since broken) for consecutive games played (844).

We never forget our first… (cue music)… mine was Shelly Winters… sigh…

Your Dead Pool Cherry ™ is refreshed every January 1st, 12:01 am. So, unless you have someone croak already this year, you are a Virgin Again.

You are in the ICU, sir!

Wow, without being dipped in a pool, or having a cleansing ritual, or signing a pledge or anything?

Again, I feel it necessary to point out that my sister has a similar notion about her social life.

And again, first thing we heard it on the radio, hubby turned to me and said “You got him?”

ABC News is reporting that broadcaster Paul Harvey has passed on. Age 90.

Just when it looked like the scorers were not going to be troubled in February, Wendy Richard and Paul Harvey popped off at the end of the month.

This is how I found out. My boyfriend said EdMcMahon was in the hospital and did anyone have him on their list and I said “I do!”, then I felt bad.

I didn’t even know he was still alive … well, he’s not now, I mean before he was dead I thought he was dead … er, nevermind.

Good Day.

For some people. Not so good for others.

Clarence Swenson one of the last Munchkin’s had gone on to OZ.

Are you sure he’s not just merely dead, but really most sincerely dead?
