The Cheesiest Song of All Time

What, and spoil the surprise?!?

I was going to suggest 'Billy, Don’t Be A Hero", but it pales in comparison with some already mentioned.

What IS noteworthy is that my Google suggestions at the bottom of my search? Yeah, the first one was ‘Seasons In The Sun’. I wonder how THAT happened? :dubious::stuck_out_tongue:

Very first time I ever heard this one I was leveled by its Wisconsin-scale delivery of curdled dairy product.

Do You Think I’m Sexy - Rod Stewart.

Two songs come to mind as the cheesiest, and it’s not so much the songs but when I saw them and how they were performed. Late 70s TV in both cases. These two shaped my concept of what cheese is all about and warped my young mind forever.

On one episode of the Bionic Woman, she had to display her talents as a singer. I don’t recall Lindsay Wagner singing other than this one time. The swelling muzak strings, the way she looks like she’s going to cry, and the chorus of “Oh feelings, woe woe oh fe- ee- yeel-lings” all make it very, very special. Also I forgot how good looking she was. - YouTube

William Shatner’s performance of “Rocket Man” from an old science fiction awards show combines Shatner’s typical over the top performance, a song that makes no sense, and some goofy camera work (SWITCHER SOLO!) to create a cheese pizza where the crust is Velveeta and they used Cheez Whiz for sauce. It’s as messy as it sounds. For a clip that needs no introduction, the guy who put it on YouTube decided to leave in Karen Black introducing Bernie Taupin introducing William Shatner, who finally shows up at 0:54. [Broken] William Shatner "Sings" 'Rocket Man' (1978) - BEST QUALITY! - YouTube

“Leader of the Pack”. By the Shangri-Las in 1964. You want more pungent than that you have to go back to Bull Moose Jackson.

Well; if there is no dispensation for the Everly Brothers, then Elvis must be fair game:

!. In the Ghetto
2. Muss i denn

“I I I I am hooked on a feeling”

And what the hell was the song that went on and on about ooga chucka?

Eta: oh, lord, it’s THE SAME SONG

No mention of Tony Orlando & Dawn? Not only was every song they ever sung as cheesy as it gets, they even looked the part!

Dottie and Dale West - Mommy, Can I Still Call Him Daddy?

Supreme’s Love Child

They are given a lifetime pass from the category for having sung the song that became the anthem of first the Iran Embassy staff, then the troops abroad in Desert Storm I. Not that the song is any better for this… :o

I had no idea that Iggy Pop provided the spoken section of this, butDaw Da Hiya, by Ofra Haza, has got to figure in high on this list:

“In a time and place
Where a woman can’t show her face
Her life is ruled by men
That shouldn’t happen again”

is one of the better “lyrics” on this one. Pity that when he’s not talking, it’s quite nice.

Wow. My contribution, Mike and the Mechanics - Living Years, is nothing compared to what some of you have dredged up!

Good Morning Starshine.

Gliddy glub gloopy nibby nabby noopy

Ahem: Post #44:

My Google-fu has failed me:

What’s the sappy C.W. McCall-style trucker song about the little kid with the CB radio… wait… it just hit me (like a Jimmy in White)!!

“Teddy Bear” by Red Sovine.

That song is so maudlin and cheesy you can spread it on crackers as a Brie-substitute. Remembering it has made me slightly nauseous.

Forgive me for even bringing it up.

Don’t forget Phantom 309

Or maybe your should.

Wink Martindale’s “Deck of Cards”

Some of these suggestions are so awful (e.g., Butterfly Kisses, Afternoon Delight), they don’t even rise to the level of cheesiness.

One song that’s both cheesy and awesome is “You’re the Best” from the soundtrack to The Karate Kid.
