I started laughing so hard I think I broke my ribcage.
Well, maybe not this version.

Some tough songs to out-cheese, but I think I have a shot with Clint Holmes’ Playground in My Mind.
It’s not a contender for cheesiest of all time, but I think it might be a contender for cheesiest of the 80s.
I’m loving the suggestions so far, but nothing has more actual cheese than this one:

LOL! I did, in fact, laugh out loud at this. Thank you for not editing it out :p:p
Holy shit. For the last 20 years, the Tom Waits version is the only one I’ve ever known, and thought it was his.
Wow!
Sorry if this has been mentioned; I didn’t see Paper Lace’s The Night Chicago Died in a quick scan of the cheese aisle.
I remember riding in the car with my parents - both Chicago natives- in the 70s when there were only five stations and families listened to the radio together while they rode around. We all loved the song (how could you not) but my mother would have to mention, every single time, that there is no area of Chicago known as “the east side”, because of course the east side is a big ass lake. Today I would probably try to out-pedantic her by saying every location technically has an east side to it, but I know what he meant.
“I heard my mama cry. Na na nana na na nana na na na na na na naaaaaaaaaa”
Wilson bryan Key insisted the “ooga chucka” was really “who got sucked off”.:smack:
At one point in my youth, my home town grew to the point where we could afford Our Own Radio Station. AM. That’s right, kid, we even got AM. Their first DeeJay after some months I guess he had enough or something. His primetime was lunchtime - and at noon, he locked himself into the studio and played the oonka chucka song something like 6 time in a row. Next day, lunch break, turn on the radio - the guy was gone.
“I am not making this up”
What, no love for “Shooting at the Walls Of Heartbreak…BANG BANG…I Am The Warrior!”
For an oldie moldy cheesy pie, there’s also “Which Way You Going, Billy?”
I wish my computer would have recorded the look on my face when the kid started singing. And that album title has to deserve some kind of award.
I think we can wrap up the thread now.
Oh oh oh wait! What about Rolf Harris’ Two Little Boys? That little ditty is Cheese Inc.
More with the tune than the lyrics:
“Who broke your heart and made you write that song…”
