The Cleveland Browns march to 0-16 thread

The Browns will blow it. Look how easily they gave up that field goal before the end of the half.

The D is playing its ass off, though. I was in the “Browns should draft a QB in the 1st round next year” camp, but now I’m leaning towards getting Suh. They could scrap the 3-4, have Rogers and Suh next to each other, and dominate the line of scrimmage.

It didn’t help that the drive was kept alive by what appeared to be a BS roughing the passer call (I only saw it through a bad moment on an internet feed so maybe upon further review it’s legit)

Mangini, you genius. You knew Mendenhall would drop that wide open pass, so that’s why you accepted the penalty and played a prevent even though your defense is playing its butt off.

Brownies!!!

Suck it, Squeelers!

Well that was the only game left on the schedule I cared about winning. Oh it’s going to be great seeing their fanbase and locker room melt down and they miss the playoffs.

Steeler fan support in Youngstown just plummeted 87%.

On the other hand… no Suh for you!

Yeah, I know… It’s going to suck when we get the third pick or something with no one being close to worth it. The only way (pre-combine) I was interested in drafting in the top 7 or so was for Suh. Now we’re going to get the huge contract without even getting the huge prospect.

Season isn’t over yet. Go Bucs!

Oh, I don’t know about that. I think Tampa has 3 wins in them.

When our two-minute defense isn’t giving away games for us, the zebras are. Not much chance of us winning more than one more game this season - we’ve got the Jets and Falcons at home and the Seahawks and Saints on the road. If we lose on Sunday (vs. Jets), we’re finishing with one win.

You can beat the Saints. Washington almost did!

Are the Rams in the running for Suh? I’m thinking since they just drafted an 8 gazillion dollar DE, and their QBs are Bulger/Boller, they might not be.

I think that may have been the only good thing to happen in Cleveland sports in 2009.

WOOF

If the Falcons remain beat up you can win that game, especially with the way they have played on the road this season. Going into Seattle will be tricky but that team is as inconsistent as any and they have serious injury issues, as always, too.

I think Suh will be good enough to merit the #1 overall regardless of need. The Rams, especially with Spagnulo, will absolutely draft Suh and put him alongside Carricker and Long and have a scary foundation. That said I think the Rams might have another win in them, though the schedule is tough down the stretch.

I hang my head in embarrassment… Congrats Browns fans!

Well, that sure feels nice. Josh Cribbs needs a big fat contract renegotiation under his tree this year.

Carricker might have been cut by the time you read this. He’s been called a bust from day one.

You’re right, though - you can take a good defensive tackle regardless of need, because you’re going to be rotating those guys more than anyone else anyway.

Won’t Mangenius just give the pick(s) to the Jets for a couple has-beens, a bag of footballs and a box of snowglobes anyway?

I figure this thread is as good a place as any to post this, it doesn’t feel like it warrants it’s own thread considering the season is still going on.

The full Mock Draft can be seen here for ESPN Insiders. I’ll post the abbreviated version here minus the commentary.

A little more Brownies news. Apparently Holmgren is stepping up to the plate as the next GM. Might be a negotiating ploy to get the Seahawks to pay top dollar, but it’s interesting that Holmgren seems to want to get this sorted out so early as opposed to waiting until the offseason when most jobs will open up.

He’s a guy that I’d be interested in adding as an upgrade over Angelo but I’m guessing a pre-Xmas deadline would rule that out.

Has Holmgren ever shown that he can be a good GM?

I want Moneybags Mcfailsalot to throw a gazillion dollars at Parcells.
