The Cleveland Browns march to 0-16 thread

And if the team keeps ripping your heart out by blowing Monday Night games at the last possible instant, eventually you jump off a bridge.

And we’re discussing the Browns, so it should be a staph infection, not food poisoning.

Yeah, but young quarterbacks are supposed to be too aggressive, not too passive. The problem with waiting for a guy who can’t/won’t throw downfield to develop is that when he’s done you don’t end up with Peyton Manning- you get Jason Campbell.

The funny thing is that Campbell can throw a terrific deep ball; he just doesn’t- though that is surely due in part to his shitty offensive line.

Bam Morris was the backup to Erric Pegram that year and no they had no business being there with that offense but, man, look at the defense and they were missing Rod Woodson. O’Donnell does get too much crap for that game but I still don’t forgive him. It still hurts to think about it.

Bam Morris sells some good smoky treats.

A Jerry Sherk reference? Nah, couldn’t be.

It seems Mangini is being hung out to dry by a lot of writers in the media. Here’s a link (to a pro-Bengals website) that has a few of these articles posted in there: Qutting seems possible as Browns join NFL's worst - THE BENGALS FORUM - For Bengals Fans *Only* - GO-BENGALS.COM X WHO DEY X AFC CHAMPIONS!

Can all this really lay at Mangini’s feet? These are not Mangini’s players…they are Romeo’s leftovers. How good could anyone have expected Mangini to be with so many bad personnel decisions having been made before he took over?

There can’t have been that many bad personnel decisions made. Remember, this is a team that was 10-6 with more or less the same personnel in 2007. They just lost a cornerback and tight end and gained a (very good) nose tackle.

Yeah, and then they were 4-12 last season too. I don’t know, I’m just wondering how much of this may be due to the players not wanting to play for Magini because he’s a dickhead.

0-4

Nothing like letting Carson Palmer gimp his way to a 1st down. They find new ways to rip the hearts out of the fans every week.

At least the offense showed some punch.

I didn’t get to watch. How did they manage to hand the ball back to Cincy in a good position to win the game? Seems to me that must have involved some sort of crucial mistake…

Gimp? That was a great play on his part. Obviously he’s not particularly mobile, but it was a great play when the game was on the line.

The Bengals are converting an awful lot of fourth downs late in games. I’d bet they lead the league in that category right now, too. Still, they can’t sustain winning games in come-from-behind-fashion…can they?

They didn’t. The game was in overtime and both offenses went three and out (more or less) repeatedly and ate up pretty much all fifteen minutes until the Bengals managed to drive the field and kick the game winning field goal with 7 seconds left in OT…otherwise, another tie.

It was actually quite the epic punting battle in OT.

Nah. It’s a reference to Kellen Winslow from last year. You have to scroll down to get to 2008 and Winslow.

Yeah, I got it. That was a joke. Jerry Sherk jokes don’t go over so well in the new millennium, I guess.

They could have used Winslow today. After all, he IS a fucking soldier.

Especially considering Robert Royal dropped a pass (or rather, I should say… didn’t even really attempt to catch a pass) that hit him in the shoulder that would’ve given the Browns a shot at a field goal before OT.

I was okayish with the Winslow trade because I thought Rucker who was drafted to replace him would do a competant job, but apparently he sucks and got cut, making the Winslow trade a clusterfuck.

What’s the deal with Robiskie? I expected him to step up as the slot/possession guy, but he’s not even playing on special teams.

He appears to suck. The thing about drafting him is that he’s supposed to be polished - low upside, but low floor - not gonna bust, can contribute right away. But he can’t get active on a receiving squad featuring Josh Cribbs as its #2.

Maybe he needs time - but again, immediate usefulness was his thing.

MoMass looked pretty awesome, though.

I got it and thought it was funny.
