The Clouds of Magellan are just passing by.

Actually, everyone misspells the name of the seventh planet, which is supposed to be “Uranus:”

Since, as everyone knows, there’s a colon hiding behind Uranus.

Well, if we’re going to damn celestial objects, then a big “fuck you” to the galactic core and dust clouds around it for blocking our view of the Great Attractor, one of the greatest mysteries in astronomy and cosmology. Barring some kind of black magic FTL drive, I’m never going to know what that’s all about. It pisses me off just thinking about it.
Yeah, on that note, I’m going to say a big “fuck you” to all galactic cores everywhere. Especially the ones located in giant elliptical galaxies at the centres of galaxy clusters. Fucking behave damnit so that I can figure you out!

You don’t know what’s happening at the Core? (By the way, the OED recognizes this story as the origin for “the Core” as the term for the center of our galaxy.)

Butt, butt, butt - if it were easy, anyone could play! :stuck_out_tongue:
The past few years, I’ve also heard people pronouncing the word “pianist” as pi-AN-ist, to avoid the chance resemblance to the word “penis”.
BEHOLD, the clouds of pianist!

I’ve decided to reclassify this thread. It’s no longer a Pitting, but is instead an MPSIMS thread. Please make a note of it.

So, does this mean we have to stop saying fuck you to the heavens above?

Tris
Both of them!

I’m not sure how everyone else feels about this, but I am pissed. First it’s Astroweenies changing the pronunciation Uranus, out of fear of eight year old boys, then Pluto gets demoted. So now where is the neighborhood going? It’s going away, that’s what’s happening!

Immutable Heavens my ass!

Stop whining. At least you’ll have them around to look at for a while. We never get to see them without enriching an airline.

Actually, I can’t see them from where I live.

I am more or less theoretically pissed off. I know it’s not much, but it’s the best I can do.

I’ve looked at Clouds of Magellan from both sides now.

from up and down and still somehow

From 9th grade science I recall

I still say Ur-Anus after all

Hehhee, that was a good sweet laugh, thanks..

Nope, never ever, The way my small mind sees it, the universe continues to produce all kinds of phenomena, in increasing complex ways that can vex the little meat monkey mind. Fuck You is a very good impetus, then, and can get the wheels aturning to figger out a better answer. Hmmm, maybe not Fuck You in an insulting sense, but, wanting to engage in an intense way. Ah, kinda dribbling here, late night, but feel free to go on about it.

Yeah, I feel that pain too. Like it would have been just too hard for the galaxy to rotate just a bit faster, so we could be on the other side! You know, they got dwarf galaxies on that side too! And theirs are actually hanging around, you know? Real neighbors, not transients! And throw in the Great Attractor, too, to sweeten it up.

Are we just on the wrong side of the tracks? Is this the bad side of town? Makes you want to move to a nice Globular Cluster, maybe high above the Galactic Plane, where you get a view!

This is a pit thread?
I’m not sure how everyone else feels about this, but I am indifferent. First it’s Czarcasm shuffling it off to the Pit, for fear of it crowding out topics less-than-cosmic, then Giraffe mod notes it. So where is this irregular dwarf galaxies thread going? It’s forum jumping, that’s what’s happening!

Mundane pointless stuff my ass!

Big on irony, our Mods, eh what?

I’m just sitting back in my chair with a glass of Tully, watching the clouds go by.

No kidding. This is terribly unfair to us who came late to this thread. I could have used some intergallactic cursing.
