Holy crap! I would not want to piss off Joey.
This show confuses me. I don’t know if I like it or hate it and it’s not something you guys can help me with. Something you can help me with though is with the question, did any of the females do anything? All I ever saw was the men working. It wasn’t until the last episode or two that I saw that blonde bitch actually working and even she made a comment about actually having to use power tools.
The chores seemed to be split pretty obviously according to gender roles. Early in the show the women complained that they were doing all of the cooking, cleaning, etc. The men thought the women weren’t working because they weren’t building anything.
Then, when the women (I’m thinking mostly Alisson and Morgan) did express interest in building, the men (Mike and Joey) decided it was easier to do things themselves rather than take the time to teach some silly little girl.
This show featured a whole heck of a lot of prejudice, especially among gender and class. Admittedly, though, everyone got along fairly well except for the alpha males.
Man, I like this show and can suspend my disbelief, but that final attack and escape was too fake. Especially the flamethrower that looked nothing like the one he was building. That “blow the car up” scene didn’t even look like it was filmed at the same time. And then they jump on the truck when it’s still dark out, but as soon as the get outside the sun is shining. Plus Joey’s “I’m gonna stay to rebuild L.A.” speech. What? I get the fact that doing this for 10 weeks (!) can make you go a little crazy, but that was too much.
The couple (I can’t remember anyone’s name except for Joey and Mike) welding the stone into the building was a nice touch though.
That was The Professor and The Professor’s Wife. ![]()
