Bachmann is a nut case. She is not bad looking but once Minnesotans had one term of her ,why wasn’t that enough. They elected her again. How the hell could they do that? Thousands of lakes, are they are polluted?

I’ve mentioned this before in a previous Bachmann thread - this is a conservative Catholic, right-to-life, single-issue district. There are a couple of Catholic churches around that have actually been kicked out of the diocese because they’ve reverted to pre-Vatican II crap. The area has gone through some rapid demographic changes over the past 10 years and the rural (or formerly rural) yokels are scared that their “traditional American values” are going to be trampled.
I fucking hate talking with politics with not only anyone in my family but in someplace like a bar; it’s like a running Glenn Beck show here sometimes.

They’re just voting to keep her out of the state.
Minnesotans, as a whole, didn’t elect her. Only her district did. She could never win a statewide race, but candidates for the House aren’t elected by states, they’re elected by districts. Bachmann’s district is very conservative.
This is why the House of Representatives is much more likely than the Senate (which is elected by states) to be filled with kooks from both wings. Maxine Waters could never win a statewide election either.
And even the majority of her district didn’t elect her.
She has never reached even half (50%) of the votes in the district; instead there have been 3rd party ‘Independence’ candidates that pull enough votes from the DFL so she can win a plurality.
I went to the state university in Mankato and that place seemed like redneck central. Now I’m glad I went there because it sounds like St. Cloud is worse (I almost went to St. Cloud but decided on Mankato instead because I heard St. Cloud’s state university is a major party school. And then I ended up going to a lot of parties in Mankato).
I wouldn’t expect a college town to be really racist, except for colleges like Bob Jones University. I find it strange.
But St. Cloud isn’t really a college town. It’s too big, and has too much other activity for the college, and its’ facility & students, to be a major influence on the town. Not like other smaller towns where the college is the major employer in the town.

Book Tv had an interview on “After Words” with the author of “Architects of Ruin” by Sweitzer who blames the liberals for the financial crash. They actually had Bachmann do the interview . He had a hell of a time squeezing any words in. Her questions would take 2 minutes and then she would interrupt the answers to show her grasp of politics and her slant. It was terrible and unfair to the sadly mistaken author.
She’s the congresscritter who never stops delivering on both batshit and insanity. I salute her. May her next election bid go the way of the Light Brigade.
