I just read the story on espn.com and I have to say that I’m more excited about TV than I have been in a long time. It got a lot of great reviews last year, but horrible ratings, but I think ESPN has the power to make it a success.
For those out there who don’t know what “The Contender” is (and I wouldn’t blame you, it was horribly under promoted and in a crappy timeslot) its a reality show produced by Mark Burnett about boxers in a kind of tournament to win $1,000,00.
For all the critics out there let me mention that I was never a big fan of reality shows. Actually other than the contender I haven’t watched a single other one, also nobody in the house here liked boxing and was deemed too violent by the ladies of the house.
Nevertheless, nobody in my house missed an episode and I even forked out the cash to see the finale live in Las Vegas. So rejoice with me dopers if you loved this show, and if you didn’t tune in last year please give it a shot if you like competition. It really was based more on the characters in the show than it was on boxing.
