All this talk of Ren Faires - we’re definitely going this year. The Texas RenFaire isn’t until October. I mentioned that maybe we should go this year for my birthday - Oct 26 - and Mr Rebo said, “Cool! Can we dress up?” I was shocked, I tell ya!
So we’ll be looking for costumes soon.
I left work early yesterday (I have nothing to do!) and went by Pier 1 Imports. I found this huge red lacquered bamboo platter that I though would look way cool on top of the entertainment unit. It was too big! It’s about 2 feet in diameter, and there’s only about 1-1/2 feet of clearance up there. I’m so disappointed. I also bought a basket, and a bunch of those silly little woven willow balls to put in it. It looks cool!
I’m trying to find things to decorate the joint. I found out that my brother and his wife are coming down at the end of the month. Their house is absolutely gorgeous, even if I don’t love the style. It’s very frou-frou and Italian. My house is kinda modern and very eclectic with mismatched wood and stuff. We went for comfort and function. It’s kinda lacking on accents, so I’m looking. (A female relative is coming to my house for her first time! I have to perk up the place! As well as clean it.)
One of these days we’ll work on the office and the master bedroom.

Today is studying for that exam. Joy! Yesterday was going on a hike with the people I’m studying with today - two of my fellow incoming grad students. Both female. You can see why I went on that hike. Alas, the more attractive of the two has a long distance bf. The ratio at Dartmouth is 50/50 though, so I’ve got a much better shot here in general than at Rensselaer Polytechnic “3 to 1” Institute. Ptui!

swampy, if you get the new job, does that mean you can really, truly mean it when you say, “no more wire hangers!!”?
On rings – I love my engagement ring, but I hardly ever wear it. It’s an antique style setting, and it rubs against my wedding band so much that it wore done some of the detail work. So I’m afriad to wear it. It’s a diamond-shaped diamond – what kind of cut is that? The voice in the back of my head is whispering “marquise,” but I can’t always trust that voice… I didn’t want an engagement ring, actually. I wanted this cave bear skull we saw at a gem & fossil show. But my husband (then fiance, of course) is such a traditionalist.
Also known as the school where the guys are desperate and the girls run. So says taxi, anyway. 
Oh, and Twinks - got your e-mail and I responded already. And I will bring your pattern back, I couldn’t make heads nor tails of it. It was worth a shot, I suppose.

brown, pale beige, red - okay - the color palette works - but talk about bland in flavor. At least shoot the beans or the soup with some interesting seasonings
The nice thing about my job is the ability to take off at will. The boss-folk trust that we’ll stick around and do what has to be done, but if there’s nothing hot and we’ve got the time on the books, we can split. So I did.
I’ve been to the bank to get change, and in a little bit, I’ll start hauling stuff upstairs to load into the van. I need to iron some tablecloths for the display, and I’m going to have a look at the canopy frame so I have an idea of how it should go together. I’ve been saying to *someone * that we need to figure it out to be sure we have all the requisite pieces. Apparently that’s not a priority. So I’ll just figger it out myself. 
Other than that, it’s a gorgeous day here and it’s much nicer than being cooped up in a windowless office. Life is good.
