The Contents Of My Pantry... The MMP

OK so it’s Friday again and I realized that I still haven’t posted the pix from the state fair which was almost two weeks ago. That’s so sad. There are pix of baby pigs on KeithT’s computer. I just have to get them from there onto this interweb thingy. I’ll see if I can get to it this weekend.

I’ll be the one to defend diamonds. I like them, and I have an heirloom engagement ring of diamonds in platinum. I love how it looks, and we’re having our wedding bands custom made to match it. It’s actually from my family, but I like it better than anything new that we could have gotten, and besides, KeithT was a grad student when we got engaged so couldn’t really afford a new ring. I’m really happy with it, and I’m really pleased to keep the connection to my family.

Yeah, saphires and emeralds are pretty, but give me that cold sparkle of diamonds in platinum any day!

I hate dull knives! I was at a friends who had asked me to make a batch of cole slaw (my slaw is getting famous!) and while chopping onions I hacked a gash in my left middle finger. I have three layers of liquid bandage on it (that stuff burns like fire) and a bandage, but it is swollen and it hurts! Wahhhhhhhh!

I can’t use pre-chopped cabbage for my slaw because they don’t cut it coarsely enough to suit me. It gets too soupy.

Now I’m cranky.

Mine are diamonds in white gold. I like both platinum and white gold. I also like diamonds, but I don’t like really big stones in really heavy settings. I like delicate, detailed jewellery.
I still want opals and amethysts, too.

My evening plans have abruptly switched. Driving Husband and Quasi-Daughter are picking up Mr. Lissar from work, and we’re going out for Indian food. Attacks Husband has been invited, but I haven’t heard back from him. We’re meeting at eight. I think I’ll have a snack to stave off starvation. I’m making a complicated feta-spinach-sausage-pepper one to use up the spinach and the feta. The dip is good, too.

Hey, paranoia is a good thing when your name is being taken in vain. Fortunately, it was some other woman, with a pudgy, racist son. Mine is neither pudgy nor racist, so I’m cool. Whew. :stuck_out_tongue:

I am being rewarded for a week of one bad job after another by a transcript in which, for not nearly enough pages, a witness gives the same answer to every question: “I assert the Fifth.” Why are the ones where you can make a macro for the answer always the shortest?

I’m doing laundry! I had no choice, I was out of clean everything. I am also doing some cleaning, and am doing dinner shortly. We’ll see if dogbutler can burn himself on tossed salad.

Mika,Drae,Twinks, enjoy the Faire. Maybe one of those bag cellphones would be suitably medieval.

kai, I’m 35, do you think 40ish women would still try to seduce me?

Rebo, sounds tasty.

Tigs, watch B5, the chores will wait.

SCL, ouch! Maybe we should eat out until further notice.

LiLi, will you make reservations? “Table for Lissla and husbands is ready”

Thank you for the entertainment and smile-inducing stuff. I needed it.

Two days at the office this week and I’m grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, primarily because of one person. At least it’s one who reports to me, so I have a certain amount of control over the situation, but I’m grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr because of all the time I have to waste dealing with said situation. Sometimes being a supervisor sucks. Did I mention grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr?

I like rings in theory, but in practice, they generally get in my way. That’s why I like Grandma’s ring. It’s pretty plain and low-profile, so it doesn’t get caught on anything. The only time I take it off is if I have to knead something.

Sorry to hear about the toe, Tel. How come such little things can hurt SO MUCH?

I’ve never been to a Ren Faire. There’s one in August (I think) south of here (near Rue IIRC), but I’ve never managed to visit.

Good luck with the craft fair, FCM. We get to see pictures, right?

A bunch of the women I work with turned 40 within a couple of years of each other. We all decided we really liked turning 40 and have [del]brainwashed[/del] mentored those who followed in our footsteps so that all now consider the forties to be fabulous. I’m awfully close to 50 and need to work on something better than “50: it’s the new 40.”

I’ve had conversations like your bactrian one, LiLi. They’re perfectly normal. Except when you don’t remember the context.

I’ve eaten quite a few grape tomatoes, but I need to rustle up a real dinner. I’m not really much for Cajun. Guess I’ll go investigate the contents of the freezer and fridge.

I’ll be heading to the 200 Hundred Dollar Store after work…sigh. That’s Costco, in case you haven’t figured it out.

I need to look for a messenger bag for the boy. He’s decided (and rightly so), that his fifty pound school backpack is TEH SUXOR. His poor back is killing him. He’s not a wimpy kid either.

I figured that since I’ll be at Costco anyway, I’ll pick up some meat, bread, fruit, and soda. I plan to cover my eyes going through the rest of the aisles, so I don’t become carried away with the spending. It’s far, far, far, too easy to spend too much there.

Fifteen more minutes and I’m free for the weekend.

Best of luck again with the Craft Fair **FCM. ** I really liked Swampy’s sign idea. It’s perfect, really.

Drae and Co, have fun at Ren Faire. I know they have a couple around here, but I’ve never been to one.

Yeah, but that was all amateur stuff. I’m talkin’ Pro here!

Can you please post this recipe? It sounds really great, interesting with the phyllo dough.

I have a fun surprise to take to FCM tomorrow.

Don’t worry, I’ll take pictures.

Thanks - at this point, good luck will mean getting it all set up in time. The van is packed full of stuff. LOTS of stuff. But we have a Plan[sup]TM[/sup] - when we get to our assigned space, we’ll set up the canopy, then the tables, then unload the rest. We’ll have just under 3 hours to get all ready. **FCD ** thinks it’ll be a piece of cake. I’m thinking it’ll be busy.

And, yes, there will be pictures. The camera is sitting by my purse and the batteries are charging. I’m hoping to document the whole evolution. We’ll see how that goes. You’ll find out in the next MMP.

Hope I can sleep tonight. I don’t want dark circles under my eyes when I meet Mama Tiger!

ooooo - a surprise??

Wait a sec - it doesn’t involve you leaving one of your dogs for me, does it??

No, no, the dogs are just along for fun. Nope, this is something else. You’ll understand when you see it. And no hints; I don’t want to spoil the fun!

Oooooh, I almost forgot that you’re next week’s hostess. I’ll look forward to the stories. And the pics, of course.

Advice to Dopers: if you have a cut and have put liquid bandage on it, do not put a bandage over it. My finger got damp under the bandaid and the liquid bandage peeled off, resulting in more blood and more pain. It appears at this time I will lose a small chunk of my finger.

I want sympathy.

Forget that - I want drugs, but will settle for sympathy since I’m more likely to get that.

Tomorrow is the Junior League Attic Sale - an entire convention center full of good used stuff. If I wake up in time I’m going.

Good luck, FCM! I’m looking forward to hearing how much money you rake in. Your stuff is purty!

We have our very own Pottery Goddess!

On preview:

Ouchie! I did the same thing last week, but just a small slice came off. I lost it in the salad…

::Rushes back into the MMP with a boatload of sympathy for SCL::

I hate cuts like that. Hope it gets all better soon. And make sure you keep it all dry and stuff from now on. I’ve used one of those super-bandaids before that you don’t take off till it’s mostly healed and that worked out really well. They were like the Activ-Flex ones on this page.

Hope it all gets better soon.

I have rum and tequila, will that do?

You’ll have to ask the bakery in Levittown NY that makes it - I have no clue as to the exact ingredients, proportions, or preparation, sorry. I just know it was yummilicious
