The Crimson Glyph (Werewolf/Mafia/Psychopath)

My vote didn’t count in the first place. I was expecting Pede to sub me out or at least announce to the board what was happening with me before the game ended. Like I said, it was a mistake on my part to break down like that, and I really do regret it.

Wanna start a sign up thread so I can cross advertise for you?

Knock yourself out!

Fixed, again.

Clearly you suspected me before my “botched claim”. I understand why, as my actions were one of the things Scum sometimes do.

But in this case, such thinking was wrong.

As tempting as it is, try not to build a game based on a single data point. Being helpful to Town is a minor Scum tell at best, and by itself is hardly indicitive on Scuminess.

Meanwhile I have learned a lot from this game. This was my first game where I had a power role, and yes my claim was less than… professional. Certainly that is not a mistake I will be repeating any time soon.

As this was my second Mafia game, I clearly have a long way to go…

On another point, Meeko, I would like to apologise for my aggressiveness and rudeness towards you in my last Day alive. At first it was because you were rubbing me the wrong way, but that is no excuse. Later it was to see how deep a hole you would dig yourself into. Either way, the phrase “Meeko the moron” left my keyboard far more often than it should have, and for that I am sorry.

PS - Mahaolth, I’d love to join your game. Just let me see how things are in RL by the time the signups go up.

Cool. I should probably start the signups tonight or tomorrow, depending on how quickly I add the finishing touches. I’m quite excited. I’ve gotten approval from Gukumax, and paul said I could advertise on Giraffeboards and that he’d put it on facebook, so it should be cool.

I understand if you are too busy, but we’d love to have you AllWalker.

I know I’m setting myself up for the next game I’m in, but does anyone realize I’ve NEVER been lynched in either game I’ve played?

In my 3 games:

  1. I survived to the end
  2. I was lynched (this one, obviously)
  3. I was Night Killed

Now all I need to experience is the different types of Scum.

AllWalker, you should have seen how happy we(scum) were when people began to believe Rysto over you on the day you got lynched.

If you get a chance to read the scum board, do. The moment you got lynched over Rysto was the first moment I began to suspect we might win. I had mainly assumed that the scum would lose. I figured there was a investigator on the Town side and he/she had to be getting close to us.

The primary reasons I felt we won were:

  1. A lot of nonsense talking dominated the discussion, and I do not mean exclusively Meeko.

  2. No Vanilla Townies claimed a different PM than me, Joey, and Thing Fish because the only other 2 townies were subs.

  3. People believed Rysto over AllWalker.

  4. Townies quit the game.

  5. All 3 scum played a very low-key game, which is essential.

Hey, I’ve played four games and have never been lynched! In fact, this was the first time I’ve ever even been Nightkilled; my first game I survived to the end (and lost), the next two I died due to bizarre complications of my bizarre power roles.

Although my Mafia career has few highlights, I believe that in my first game (Doperville) I may have set the record for biggest vote deficit made up without a roleclaim; at one point I had 7 votes on me to 2 for my nearest competitor, and I talked my way out of it! I was vanilla Town, BTW, and that should prove that anytime in the future I get a lot of votes on me, I will also be vanilla Town. Right?

I will look forward to reading Mahaloth’s game, but I need a long break to decompress before playing another one…I can’t believe there are people who actually play multiple games at the same time!

Not-specifically-solicited advice for Meeko on how to improve:

Really, by far the most important priniciple I could advise is: Read more, post less! You posted a great deal in this game, and most of it was very confusing. This made the thread difficult to read, which I think may have contributed to some Town players becoming discouraged. Once you became confirmed Town, I started skimming your posts, because it was just too much hassle to try to parse them out. If you recall, just before you became confirmed, I actually voted for you. I think if you hadn’t been confirmed, more and more people would have been fed up with you, and it would have been easy for scum to arrange a mislynch. At times, it became apparent that you weren’t reading the thread carefully. I think it is most helpful to Town to post your ideas in a clear and concise way, so that they can be easily understood. Fluff can make the game more fun, but it should always be obvious which posts are fluff and which are serious efforts to contribute to the game.

Remember what the object of the game is: to catch scum. It seems that in this game you somehow (I’m still not quite sure how) figured out that Chronos was the Politician. That was good deduction of which you can be proud. The problem is that you spending energy trying to figure out who Town power roles are doesn’t help Town win at all! Focus on the goal…

Good luck in the future!

The new game is up and open for sign-ups. It’s “Lost” themed, but even if you have never seen the show OR hate it, you will still enjoy the game.

“Lost” Mafia

I’ve been lynched once in eleven games. At least, I think that it’s eleven games. I may have forgotten about some of them.

I’m still pissed off about that one lynch, too. If I hadn’t have screwed up in T2 I could have kept my lynchless record alive.

Well, you would have been lynched in this game if we didn’t have two catatonic players.

I’ve played 7 games and have never been lynched.

Meeko Don’t Fear the Reaper…

One more point related to the above: surviving to the end is not the object of the game! You often seemed very afraid of providing information to the scum that might make you more likely to be nightkilled. Don’t worry about that, put all the information you have out there in the open and if it contributes to catching a scum, it will be a great trade for Town even if you do get killed!

It is a paradoxical thing about this game that the better players often don’t get to play for long; I think a big part of the scum victory in this game was that they did a good job of killing off the more insightful Townies first.

The exception, of course, is if you are a power role you will want to wait until the appropriate time to reveal that; but in that case, you should just not say anything about it until you are ready to reveal it. There is generally no good reason for a Townie to tiptoe around saying “Well, I know or suspect something to be true, but I’m not going to say what” or to try to talk in code.

I’ve played in 18 completed games. I’ve been lynched 9 times. (2 of those happend when I left for work with no votes on me, and came home to being lynched on Day 1, And I was a Cop in one of those games) I’ve been Night killed 6 times. I’ve been alive at Endgame 3 times.

This is very good information. Especially when you are a confirmed Mason. Just being a mason makes you a target for the Scum. The benefit to this is, if the Scum waste a kill on you, they are NOT getting another power role, and, with an investigator alive, it allows them another investigation to either find a Scum or confirm a Townie.

When I’m Mason, which seems to happen frequently, I don’t mind being NK’d. I expect it after I’m outed, and I just look at the pluses.

The only downside is that Town is then deprived of my brilliant insights :smack:

Ah, I just found where Scum figured out that I was the politician, and it was a case of a best-laid plan ganging aft agley:

I deliberately made sure there was not a time correlation between my other posts and when I put in the vote order, but then of course there was a delay before pede got my PM, and another delay before paul got pede’s PM, and those two delays coincidentally happened to put paul’s post right after a different one of mine. I was a little worried when I saw that happen, actually…

Sometimes, as politician, it’s best not to use your powers in the early Days. Really, you are most likely as clueless as anyone else. Also, when it does happen, it leaves scum wonder what mechanic is at play, or if it’s a one time power. Also, they have less information to figure out who is doing it.

And really, it’s a tremendous power in late game situations.

Yeah, I’m already pretty aware that I didn’t use my power as effectively as I might have. Honestly, this game was the first I’d ever even heard of a politician role: I’d already given thought to how to play Detective, Doctor, and Mason, but was playing this pretty much by ear.
