The Crimson Glyph (Werewolf/Mafia/Psychopath)

Yes, Allwalker, I am assuming at this point that Tel had to choose what power to use, assumed he would not be killed(rather unlikely, actually), and used his other power.

Either the scum knew he was a power role or they got really lucky, and we and Telcontar got really unlikely.

Was his other power pulling sinners back to purity? Perhaps he did this?

Meeko, I’m still reading your post(and deciphering it). Give me(us) time.

How do you know this?

I tend to agree here.

I don’t think that Tel had that much more information than we had.

While I agree to your idea, I would like to further it just a bit.

Perhaps Tel was a Naive Aegis / Purger. As such, he Thought he was a doctor, and he tried to protect, never knowing that he couldn’t.

Working just one step beyond this:

We still have our Real Aegis out there. This would remove the teeth from the the NK immediately.

However, I feel that the “luck” is helped more than we will ever know, given the fact that we are against two sides, AND that we still do not know what O does.

It could also be that the Opposing Powers are likewise rammped up. I would bet that there is a killer combo (excuse the pun) that could exist, that could be so surgical as to not be affected by other powers. -A Role Blocker-Vig.

Numbering mine, rest is Meeko’s.

Well, let me try to process your questions and look at these. I assume by doctor, you mean someone who can protect one player per Night.

  1. Do you mean did they go to a doctor or do you mean do they have a doctor? How could they go to a doctor? I have no idea if they have one and we can’t access this information. We can only speculate.

  2. We have no idea and can not find out…unless someone flat out tells us.

  3. I would assume so, unless they have a power role that allows for some kind of “dodge” of the ostracization. Actually, this is your best question. I am guessing the complication with ostracization involves sinners or their power roles.

  4.

Meeko,

I think you’re struggling to put a symmetry to this game. What is with the ‘moving twice’?

I don’t get it. Things don’t need to be equal to be balanced. If it helps to be visual, you can balance a 2 lb weight on one side of a stick with a 1 lb weight on the other end of the stick by moving the 1 lb weight twice as far away from the fulcrum.

To apply that analogy to this game.

Sinner do gain an extra person with the seed of Sin when we execute, but their power is weakened because it can be refused. A Townie can pray to remove that seed and become a Pure Townie again.
Additionally, the Sinner and Blackheart win conditions are vastly different. Sinner can win without any deaths occurring. Blackhearts need much death.

I’m not understanding why you feel both of these things need to be similar to be balanced. It’s just not true.
It’smuch the same with Ostracizing and Executing. They don’t have to be equal for the game to be balanced. One may be better than the other in certain cases, but they needn’t have equal and opposite effects. It’s our job to figure all of this out, not to balance the game for pede. He’s done that already, and I doubt he’s done it in a symmetrical fashion

Man, Meeko, if you ever make a Mafia or Haggle game, I want in! The rules would be so crazy and I’d be too afraid to declare the game “broken”…asuming anyone who says that gets lynched!

Seriously, though, I don’t even want to get into the extreme speculation of what Telcontar knew. He probably just didn’t expect to die and didn’t protect himself. I mean, we won’t know unless we chat post game, but we have no info. to go on.

By Doctor I meant Tel.

Everyone, look at this question. It is for Ped, but hopefully you will catch on to WHY I am asking it.

**Does Ostracism reveal Townie Power Roles to Blackhearts? Does it give them a “free” pass at a NK?
**

:dubious:

I…um…I don’t really understand.

But if you’re asking what I think you’re asking, the answer is F4.

[quoteIf we Execute a Sinner:
Sinners do not gain an additional sinner. (They simply gain what they just lost. It would be a wash.)
Blackhearts still get all of their night powers
A Sinner night power is denied. This might or might not mean that no ensinning occurs for the night.

If we Ostracize a Sinner:
Sinners are denied an additional sinner, because we did not execute.
Sinners still have all night choices that night.
Blackhearts have all night choices.

Therefore, speaking logically, if we had perfect information, I think we would:

Execute Sinners

Ostracize Blackhearts
[/quote]
So, you’re saying that you think that it’s better for the number of Sinners to stay constant, than for the number of Sinners to decrease? If we execute every Sinner, how are we ever supposed to defeat them?

Further, if there must be some means for every faction to “move twice”, what’s the method for Town to move twice? I think I speak for the Town when I say that if there was such an option, we’d like to know about it.

Agreed. Speculating on why Tel died is counter-productive, because there are a million possible scenarios. Maybe he thought that somebody else was likely to be recruited/killed and tried to protect them. Maybe he tried to self-protect but he was blocked. Maybe he was unable to self-protect. Maybe he only had a limited number of protections and chose not to use one tonight. We have zero information that could allow us to work out what happened, and idle speculation isn’t likely generate any additional information for us.

Reposted to fix code:

Let me try once more:
**
Were the odds of Tel’s death GREATLY influenced because we decide to O instead of E? **

Yes. We would.

Meeko:

  1. You have even confused Ped. Congratulations.

  2. Asking Ped direct game affecting questions that go beyond clarifications of rules is like asking what the rules you don’t own are in Haggle. You won’t get an answer.

The odds of getting rules you don’t own in Haggle are orders of magnitude easier than this.

ENOUGH!

Startled, the small patch of Puritans looked up from the small circle where they were discussing things. It was the voice of God. Or, at least, it was the voice of some booming being from the heavens…

I have heard enough! Enough arguing, enough questions, and enough of my internal monologue!

The crowd was trembling, afraid that they were going to be smited.

I declare that there will be NO MORE EXECUTION here! I don’t know what I was thinking anyhoo. Really, the idea that it would suddenly be acceptable to kill regularly… Not my best moment. For your aid, I will create a border around your puny town. None but a holy man could breach it.

A fence of wood sprouted around the outer borders of the town. It was lightweight, and filled with a passionate aura.

Now, I will leave–

“Um…God?” A young man from the crowd plucked up the courage to speak. “Can–can I ask you a question?”

The voice sighed. Yes, my son, you may ask me a question.

Anticipation grew. What would he ask? The secret to world peace? How to convert the entire world? Answers to inconsistencies in the Bible?

“God, could you make a stone so heavy that even you could lift it?”
Yes.

And the philosophers rejoiced.

Well, I guess that ends that discussion.

Which may have been ped’s intention.

I am removing the Execution/Ostraciziation mechanic from the game on the grounds that it is a BAD MECHANIC. It is lopsided, it is irrelavent, and it is overly complicated. Moreover, it has turned this game into the Town vs. the Moderator.

The moderator should have a near invisible presence, gamewise. Oh, sure, he should be making vote counts, chatting with players about other topics, and so on, but when he has significant control over the game? Based on which questions he answers, and how? That means the ruleset is fundamentally flawed.

So I’m changing it. This change will have exactly ZERO effect on the game, let me assure you. Most of the E/O submechanics were gutted waaay before this ruleset was near completion, anyways. Really, it was an artifact. A large, obnoxious, confusing artifact. Carry on.

Does That make me Immortal, that I was able to piss off a god?

OK, then how about a vote count?
