Vote Nanook

Lynch the lurker strategy. The rest of this stuff is making my head spin.

Sorry, Vote Nanook

vote people who just seem bandwagon happy.
OK, I’m not sure what game everyone is playing.

**Meeko **is playing Haggle.
**Mahaloth **is playing lick meeko’s balls because isn’t meeko so great? And the answer is, no. He’s playing a very awfuly terrible game of Mafia. If I didn’t *KNOW *he was Town, I’d be voting for him and I’d have quite an extensive case. (And yes, WiFoM the hell out of that, Scum and Sinners. And shut up Town. I’ve reasons for not saying more)
**Angel **is playing confused, but she’s more quiet confused than I’m used to from her.
Inner Stickler and AllWalker seem to be trying to get our heavy posters to play Mafia, but I fear it’s a losing battle.
**Paul **played a gambit. He loves his gambits, but he should have been more open to start with and less open to end with. he should have admited he was a power role, but he shouldn’t have revealed them all.
Now as to a few others. Chronos, why is does everything you say make me scream, “Why do you want the Sinners to win?” Yesterday, you wanted us all to embrace sin.ToDay you want **paul **lynched. **paul’s **roleclaim is obvious very dangerous to sinners. Blackhearts probably don’t worry too much aside from the kill people during the Day power. Sinners would obviously want him lynched. Just look at his powers.

And now we vote for Nanook. It’s a f-ing cop out. Just be honest, either say, “I’m Scum and I don’t want to look suspicious toMorrow, so I’ll make the easy vote.” Or, I’m too damn lazy to actually read all this crap and make an informed decision."

Voting big time lurkers give us no information. Everyone will just say, “well, I had no idea.” Let’s leave him to the Mod to handle, ok? He’ll either be poked, subbed or modkilled.

And Town, don’t be afraid of making mistakes and being lynched. wWe’ll make mistakes as we go. Some people will die. If you’re quiet and hide all game, you’re only making it easier for Scum. Get up, get out, and go find Scum.
Oh, and for the time being, for acting in such a Sinful way, Chronos, you’ve got my

If we want something done about lurkers we have to ask Pede… he said in one of the first rules posts that he won’t be keeping track of post counts so if we want someone subbed out we have to tell him so… I wonder if the same can be said about modkills?

@ALL would you rather have Nanook subbed out or modkilled?

*bleached for Pede
This must be what it was like playing in Peeker’s first game. Meeko is semi lucid… but sometimes he gets off on a tangent… and I have no clue what the hell he is talking about… God forbid we should ever play in a game with Peeker, Seeker, and Meeko all together… It must have something to do with the double E’s

I’ve got a suggestion for everyone.

Let’s let this meeko thing drop.

I’m at work now, but when I get home, I plan on doing some in depth analysis of the game so far.

I think it might benefit us to show the newbies how Mafia differs from other games. The game is not played ‘in the moment.’

We need less reacting to what was said just a minute ago, less wild conjecture, and more research.

Thanks

Ed,
I won’t say much… I know when to shut up… But I will say that in a game on idlemafia with all our usual group… my play would have been fine. I doubt I would have gotten lynched… or NKd by scum… if anything we would have clues as to who the Sinners are because of the resulting votes I would have gotten… but here, not the case. Also… the way you are saying I should play and the way you are playing make you a hypocrite. You are doing exactly what I did… and I agree with the play style.

Everyone else,
Ed gave us a gift… don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. Take it with a grain of salt and move on… make a decision on whether or not you believe the info he has given us and continue the game based on that decision.

No, paul, I did something differently. You implied you had information about the actions of the sinners.

I would have recommended that you came out, said you had a power role, and that you had ways to counteract what the Sinners do.

When you claimed, I would have left off the parts that made you dangerous to the blackhearts (the Day Killing) That only gave them a reason to NK you.

You could have become semi-confirmed had you just simply displayed your other powers and then purified Angel toNight and let her confirm that.

What I’ve done is confirm 1 player. What does that make me? A Mason? An Investigator? A jack of all Trades? A watcher? Some odd role?

You’ll find out when I’m dead. And, at that point, you should be able to trust meeko. If he dies before me, well, let’s ust hope that doesn’t happen, because it won’t confirm me in the least.

I’ve intentionally left the Scum and Sinners with some WiFoM about who I am and what I can do while sharing my knowledge with the Town.

I realize it’s what you tried to do, but you were sharing Information thatwe thought should have been available to the Siners.

If I were a Sinner, could I be confident that **meeko **is Town and not Blackheart or 4th party? If I were a Blackheart, could I be confident that meeko is Town and not Sinner or 4h party? Even so, in the event of **meeko’s **death, I realize that I’m not confirmed.

I am trying to become a more mature Mafia player.

Touche, though. I am confused as hell…but I was also being lazy and not trying to make an informed decision. I happen to agree with you about Paul, so I am not voting him. I’ll go back and reread again.

Not the first time I have hear the name of the one called Peeker.
Mahaloth, looks like you have confirmation on how I would play here.
*FTR: Mahaloth and Naf, among others commented on my Haggle play, and asked me if I knew who Peekers was.

They in turn came to the same conclusion you did, Paul.

NETA: I take that as a compliment, somehow, Paul.

I am trying to be more mature too, Angel. (Don’t my rants seem at least a little more tame? OK, never mind, I re-read my rant. That was awful. I do apologize to everyone. I don’t intend anything personally, I’m trying to shake us up out of our stupor so we start playing Mafia)

This game has become quite confused, and I’m not blaming you for it.

I do want to make sure we aren’t just taking the easy vote without doing anything in depth. Our biggest tool is our brain, piecing together the clues that the Scum and Sinners leave behind for us.

WiFMom? Or what ever it was?

But. But… :confused::confused::confused:

Didn’t Paul Track you?

Didn’t you do nothing in particular?
But Uhm, thanks?

WIFOM. Wine In Front of Me. It’s a reference to the movie The Princess Bridge. In one scene, Westley pours out two goblets of wine and poisons one. One is placed in front of himself and one is placed in front of his opponent, Vizzini. Vizzini is supposed to figure out which of the goblets is poisoned and drink from the other; the Westley is obliged to drink from the goblet that Vizzini doesn’t drink from. Vizzini goes through a long chain of reasoning to try to figure out which is the poisoned goblet, it goes something like, “obviously you’d give put the poison in the wine in front of me, so I should drink from yours. But obviously you’d know that I’d know that you’d do that, so I should drink from the goblet in front of me. But you that I’m clever and would work that out, so I should drink the wine in front of you.” Etc, etc. Basically, WIFOM is a situation where a player has choices to make and no real information about which one is the “correct” one, because it depends on what actions the opponent makes. You can get yourself into a long chain of circular reasoning in a WIFOM situation, and it isn’t really useful.

Princess Bride. :smack:

Inconceivable!

 Yes Yes. Ok, carry on then.

Wait wait.

I wonder what I would play like, WIFOM.

I wouldn’t do that to you guys.

Vote count!

NETA : I own Princess Bride. I hope you got my reference back to your reference.

Quoth Meeko:

Well, neither, but probably closer to the “robot” end of the scale, actually. In and out of a game, I tend towards a very analytic style of thinking, as GQ regulars could attest, and I’m not very good at social skills like recognizing funny behaviour. So in a game like this, I try to play to my strengths and not my weaknesses, by focusing on the more black-and-white aspects of the game. And I have actually contemplated the possibility of writing a computer program to play Mafia-- It’s not all that different, in principle, from paper-rock-scissors, and computer programs can consistently beat humans in that.

And you seem to have learned this lesson now, but Mafia is not Haggle, and it is to the Town’s advantage in Mafia to share reasoning. It’s scummy play (and poor scummy play, at that, since it’s too obvious) to do things like vote or unvote without stating a reason.
Meanwhile, on another topic: I’m willing to give paul the benefit of the doubt for one more turn, to let him use his pro-town power instead of one of his anti-town powers (and yes, even though the Seed of Sin can be removed, spreading it is still anti-Town). But if Angel still claims to be infected by Sin toMorrow morning, my vote’s going back on him. I don’t know whom I will vote for, but in the mean time,
