The current second Trump administration: a compendium of horrors

American Convicted of Murder Is Freed by Trump From Venezuela Prison

It seems unclear whether Ortiz is now walking free in the United States.

Spanish media has more on the released triple murderer:

According to the State Department, they cannot comment due to “privacy”. When it comes to the location of convicted triple murderers, privacy is paramount.

Lemme guess … he’s white. And MAGA.

Rounding up a lot of gardeners, housekeepers, and painters without criminal records, though.

But they aren’t white, so…

Sounds like someone from another planet.

Donald is really going for the Hail Mary here. After Obama is thrown into Alligator Alcatraz, Trump will start worrying about how he can top that. I don’t recall Trump sounding this shark-circled before. Like, scared.

His name is Dahud Hanid Ortiz. Sounds from his name that he has two ethnicities arguably not Trump administration favorites.

Question to anyone: Does the United States have a legal basis for holding Mr. Ortiz? Related to that, does Spain have a basis for requesting extradition? Spain wanted him to stand trial there, but he has already been convicted in Venezuela on the basis of Spanish-supplied evidence.

During his criminal trial, Trump was clearly scared as you could plainly see in his behavior and when he spoke to the press. He even pleaded with Congress to save him as he felt the noose tightening around his neck.

He’s not wrong, but I can’t help but think the suitable trumpian “first dog” should be a Chinese Crested.

Ugly, full of shit and with a vastly inaccurate sense of self-worth.

No, no. A dog can be all those things and still be loving and kind. It just doesn’t work with dogs. In fact I’m not sure it would work with any animal.

Short answer: nothing.

“Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.”

― John Adams, The Portable John Adams

It’s like an Inception of their fantasy conspiracies. If you listen between the lines, they have orders Obama gave to the FBI and the like to investigate the Russian connections in the 2016 election. Now, of course, Trump et al. entirely deny there ever was any such connection, and so Obama must have been ordering them to come up with fake evidence to implicate Trump, as part of their plan to usurp Trump’s election win.

Of course, according to Trump, that investigation “completely exonerated” him, but it was still treasonous, for some reason, because they created the fake evidence to take down Trump that didn’t actually exist, because he was exonerated, or something…

But they probably do have Obama’s signature on some order, and they’ll spin that as treason, and the MAGAs will eat it up, never looking any deeper than that.

So we’re playing by Gremlins Rules now?

FCC to Appoint a Babysitter to Make Sure CBS Isn’t Anti-Trump

Their very own Commissar.

The Federal Communications Commission finally approved an $8 billion merger between Paramount and Skydance on Thursday after several changes at CBS that were widely seen as efforts to placate President Donald Trump. Part of the deal will apparently require an ombudsman to check the media company’s supposed political biases. And FCC commissioner Brendan Carr has been doing the rounds to brag about how he’s getting people on TV to be nicer to the MAGA movement.

Zampolit.

Don’t turn around.

The rate is 50 percent – the highest yet.

Coffee is supposed to get the price shock, but orange juice, beef, and airliners are excluded.

Effective date is August 6, so plenty of time for Trump to back down a bit.

Prediction: No way Brazil stops the Bolsonaro trial. And, sooner or later, Trump will back down on coffee.

Corrected link from last post:

Aha! That’s assuming his cultists drink coffee.

Re last post, I wasn’t thinking that way. I was thinking that Trump will back down whenever a price rise gets enough headlines.

So far, ”Many companies are eating new costs” Smoot-Hawley tariff rates have not been giving the expected results. I’m surprised by it, but the economy is doing pretty good.

Trump may be thinking that, what with him being a dictator and all, if any particular tariff turns out to be too high, he’ll quickly roll it back. I don’t think that will work. But Donald, so far, has luck on his side. Price rises are modest. And what rises there are do not get to the top of the news because of fixation on something that never hurts Trump, a sex scandal.

P.S. The link in this post seems to work, but does not look right. I am having repeated link problems tonight. Sorry if this is discussed on another thread.
