And even more sickening to view all the self-righteous posturing from Donald and his GOP enablers about ‘encouraging violence’—supposedly something that only Democrats ever do. (viz.: Charlie Kirk murder.)
I saw an interesting political comment today. It was a pic of MTG looking pensive with the words …
Marjorie Taylor Greene has been hated by the left for years and never feared for her life. She’s been hated by the right for two days and had to hire security.
So much for the tolerant … right?
This should be mentioned every single time a right-wing mouthpiece opines about the “radical Left” being violent.
That’s pointless.
The people it might be mentioned by have zero audience overlap with the RW mouthpieces. The people who need to hear that sensible message never will.
We are now two hermetic nations living in separate apartheid realities in the same state. Fixing that is the only hope of the USA holding together.
Trump disinvites South Africa from 2026 G20 summit
Russia and Saudi Arabia, no problem.
By rights the U.S. should be kicked out of the G20, but it doesn’t work like that.
This represents an opportunity for 45/47.
Since 45/47 didn’t attend the last G20 in Johannesburg, and the South Africans didn’t hand over the gavel to the US diplomat sent to collect it post summit on his behalf, 45/47 can provide his own suitably appropriate gavel to bang for the Miami summit … something tasteful in gold leaf or maybe 3D in ABS in red with MAGA printed on it? Maybe one of the Tech Bros could be stung for a solid contribution?
I call him an isolationist, but there are exceptions.
“Isolationist” except in cases where:
a) a Major Distraction is absolutely vital!! Low poll numbers, Epstein, ornery Republicans voicing dissent = VITAL!!!
b) profits may be found. Venezuela has OIL!!!
c) many of the Trump Regime’s programs are failing because courts note the War Powers claimed don’t exist where we’re not at war. Solution: a WAR!!!
Trump’s only real policy position is “whatever I want at the moment”. Consistency isn’t even a consideration.
As for isolationism, he’s not isolationist; he’s selfish. Not the same thing. He doesn’t object to threatening, demanding tribute, bullying or attacking other nations; what he objects to is the US doing anything helpful for anyone else. He wants other nations to send money and resources to the US (and thus Trump), because as far as he’s concerned the world exists solely to profit him, and only “losers” give anything to anyone else. Trade is bad because the other person profits too, which means you are a “loser”.
Well said.
The USA has for a long time used the rubric of “enlightened self interest” to guide its foreign policy. Which to a selfish grabby toddler looks a lot like “giving away the store now for nothing ever in return”.
Compared to “enlightened self interest” trump’s simpler mantra of “Me take; you give” seems isolationist at first glance.
But it comes from a completely different place. It still wants interaction with lots of foreign actors. Just not the same interactions we’re all used to seeing our government doing.
Re my last post, it is indeed currently signed, on the building facade, as the “Donald J. Trump United States Institute of Peace.” But some press reports say that the actual new official name leaves out the United States. Friom WaPo:
White House renames building the ‘Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace’
Excuse me WaPo, that’s Trump House renames building the ‘Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace’.
That’s coming. Since there will never be another President Eternal Leader working there, of course it’ll be renamed for the one and only first Eternal Leader.
Quoting the article:
So it is appropriate to name it after Trump.
From the New York Times:
“America’s professional diplomats feel demoralized and ignored, with fully 98 percent saying in a new survey that workplace morale has fallen since the Trump administration took over in January.”
[How bad must things be to make even the right-wing diplomats feel this way?]
“Diplomats sense that their input is not welcome, especially if it diverges from President Trump’s views.” And they are upset that Trump’s business cronies are more involved in U.S. diplomacy than the secretary of state is.
And, they are probably despised by any country the are in because of Trump. Except, maybe Russia.
I’d like to know who the hell are the TWO PERCENT who believe morale HASN’T fallen since trump took over? Are they in a coma??
They might be afraid they’re under surveillance.
“Diplomacy” is now simply a business deal where Jared Kushner is sent in to extract as much cash as possible from other countries. The corruption and self-dealing is now out and above board.
