Dosen’t D.C. have a freaking building department that permits this stuff?
I was in county government for 33 years. So was my wife. This needs to go through channels.

Do you mean one that goes beyond “Maybe he shouldn’t have done that, now that you bring it up. We should look into looking into that.”?
In the county I worked for. If you tore down a national historic structure, you would get one phone call.
Shit, we couldn’t replace steps into the COUNTY courthouse building withought going through the historical society and building department. My Wife and I worked very closely to the Building Dept.
He’s looking at demolishing a second one after he disgraced it with his name.
Yeah, but if the President is doing it as an “official act”, he has immunity.
You know, because the Supreme Court said so.
But that’s for ordinary mortals. When you’re god-emperor rules are beneath you.
“So let it be written. So let it be done.”
As with many things he’s done, I’m fairly certain that there are laws or regulations which say he can’t unilaterally do this. Laws aren’t self-enforcing. Even if someone attempts to stop him, it gets thrown into the courts, which may not be motivated to issue injunctions to keep him from acting before things get sorted out.
This is exactly what Project 2025 promoted. Do the legally questionable (or clearly illegal) thing and let that linger in the court system while you achieve your goals. If or when there is a decision made that it was illegal, oh well, too late now. This evil, un-American approach is working out very well for them.
Likely it will be the old one-two:
Nicolas Maduro confesses that he fully rigged the 2020 US Presidential election, then
Tulsi Gabbard chimes in to say she found evidence of that very thing, while rooting through the Georgia election records.
“God” will be very pleased.
Just FYI. Tulsi has a whistle blower complaint pending. Something about crime.
Not only that, but when it ends up at the Supreme Court, the partisan hacks who have already granted Trump full immunity for “official acts” will much more likely than not side with him on whatever issue is being contested. So if he wants to take a wrecking ball to the Kennedy Center, like he did to the East Wing of the White House, no one can stop him in the current screwed-up system where all checks and balances have disappeared and Congress is nowhere to be found.
Indeed, if Trump wanted to take down the Washington Monument and replace it with a gigantic gilded statue of himself, who is there to stop that, either? There would be bleatings in the media, and protests in the streets, but so what? Trump is already calling for Republicans to take over the voting process in states that may be at risk of voting for a Democrat. The Executive Branch is completely out of control, and nobody cares.
When I started this thread with predictions of horrors that would happen once the Orange One was inaugurated, I could never have imagined that it could get this bad in a country that supposedly valued democracy and the rule of law.
Trump is already calling for Republicans to take over the voting process in states
Of course this idea has considerable merit … on the singular proviso that this act of gross Federal over-reach extended to all the states and districts voting in a national election. End the anachronism. That’s how the rest of the democratic world functions, after all. Not that “worlds best practice” holds much sway stateside.
Some of the pedants might claim there is some constitutional impediment to such a sound improvement to the functioning of the republic. Fair squeeze, but if nowt else, the past decade has shown that while it’s a document the collective “you” are inordinately proud of and is highly resistant to amendment, it can really be paid lip service to when convenient or expedient.
So if he wants to take a wrecking ball to the Kennedy Center, like he did to the East Wing of the White House…
I’m sure this is exactly what he is going to do.
The whistleblower complaint, filed last May by an intelligence community employee, alleged that a highly classified report was deliberately limited in distribution for political reasons.
Uh, huh. They are trying to keep Trump out of prison so the grift continues to flow.
It’s really hard to decide where to post this baloney anymore.
The Small Business Administration said in a policy note that green card holders won’t be allowed to apply for SBA loans, effective March 1.
NEW YORK (AP) — The Small Business Administration said in a policy note that green card holders won’t be allowed to apply for SBA loans, effective March 1.
…
Last year, it tightened a requirement that businesses applying for loans must be 100% owned by U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or lawful permanent residents, up from a 51% standard.
In December, it issued a policy note that said up to 5% of a business could be non-citizen owned. But the current policy rescinds that, as well as making lawful permanent residents ineligible, too.
“The Trump SBA is committed to driving economic growth and job creation for American citizens – which is why, effective March 1, the agency will no longer guarantee loans for small businesses owned by foreign nationals,” said SBA spokesperson Maggie Clemmons in an emailed statement. “Across every program, the SBA is ensuring that every taxpayer dollar entrusted to this agency goes to support U.S. job creators and innovators.”
…
“The latest decision by SBA fails to recognize that immigrants are twice as likely to start a business as native-born U.S. citizens,” said Small Business Majority CEO John Arensmeyer.
…
Well, duh. There’s your reason right there in the last paragraph: those uppity, show-off furrinners start their “businesses” (said in scornful, whiny voice) and have the bold-as-brass gall to make them profitable and successful, just to make decent (cough, cough) Real Americans look feel lazy and stupid! Who the EFF do they think they are?? Can’t let that sort of bullcrap go on anymore!
I’m sure this is exactly what he is going to do.
- To punish the elite highbrows - performers as well as audiences - for dissing him.
- Because he can and no one can keep him from doing it.
Add:
- Because there’s no grifting opportunity like a “new construction” project. No, not even crypto!!!1!1!!
This would certainly be horrific.
Because there’s no grifting opportunity like a “new construction” project.
He’s been running that one since before the Atlantic City casinos. It fits like a comfortable, old shoe.
I had no idea the Obamas were apes and I thank the President for bringing this to my attention

The 79-year-old president spent the night spewing out conspiracy theories.
He’s been running that one since before the Atlantic City casinos. It fits like a comfortable, old shoe.
Yep. It’s a big part of all his “leave monuments to myself” obsession (the cash to be made).
Last week:
Putin humiliates Trump once again
Donald Trump claimed he personally convinced Vladimir Putin to pause attacks on Ukraine during a brutal cold snap. Within hours, Russia launched one of its heaviest drone barrages in weeks: 85 drones, including 55 Shaheds, hammering targets from Donetsk to Kherson.
Is Trump’s silence after such humiliations a sign of Epstein-related kompromat? Or is it just that Trump thinks a rightist dictator can do no wrong?
Probably the latter. But I have no real idea.
It seems strange that Trump has thin skin except when Putin involved. Or does Trump have thick skin when almost any dictator is humiliating him?
