The current second Trump administration: a compendium of horrors

It’s kinda nice. Nerds are no longer made fun of. We are feared.

Well, that was about 40 years ago, and a lot has changed since then.

Those of you who might be concerned about this recent addition to the Trump intelligence team (so to speak) will be reassured that a former hire in a similar position has gotten himself into trouble. Why would he pick Germany of all places to offer info? I know we’re not popular, but a weird choice.

If you thought Wormbrain’s tenure at Health couldn’t get any more psychotic…

Why is it still called the “Health” department when its purpose is clearly the opposite? Time for some realistic re-branding. How about “the Department of Disease, Death, and Inhumane Services”?

I think it’s now a toss-up as to which is going to hit the US next: an economic depression due to the Orange Peril, a nationwide epidemic due to Worm-brain, or a terrorist attack due to random kids and a Russian stooge being put in charge of national security. Such fun times!

Probably all happen at once. The rest of the world will give us the finger. We deserve it. Well half the country deserves it.

Congress won’t do it’s job. SCOTUS won’t do it’s job (calling bribes a tip or gratuity??? Seriously???).

The same reason you call the “Fire” department when your house is burning down?

Biological terrorist attack that causes the economy to collapse when everyone else in the world bans travel to or from the US.

Complete with a new slogan: “Disease is Wellness!”

Former Justice Department pardon attorney Liz Oyer cited 24 pardons President Donald Trump issued, along with fines and restitution she said the convicted people owed before their pardons erased their financial obligations. She cited $1.3 billion in total forgiven payments.
** The single biggest amount — about $676 million — was what prosecutors sought, but had not been formally approved by a judge prior to the pardon’s issuance, making the dollar figure uncertain. It could have been that much, but a judge could have increased or decreased it.*

A U.S. marshal was mistakenly detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Arizona, officials said Friday.

The deputy marshal was briefly detained in the lobby of a federal building in Tucson because he “fit the general description of a subject being sought by ICE,” according to a statement from a U.S. Marshals Service spokesperson shared with NBC News on Friday. It is not clear when the incident took place.

If the marshal lives in Arizona, I’m guessing he has a really deep tan, amirite? Easy mistake.

Oh sure, maybe even Hispanic.

His-tan-ic panic

Of the sort with a notable Native heritage.

Damn, it’s just reversion to the nasty habits and mentality that has given US police a bad rep: stop anyone of even remotely the ethnicity of the Person(s) of Interest: “For sure anyOne Of Those People’ has got to be up to no good, have an outstanding warrant or be in possesion of drugs or an illegal weapon or be undocumented.”

Too often “fits the general description” smells of an excuse you have to take on faith but that you suspect the LEO pulled out of his fundament.

Anthony Donald came around the corner of the house. He didn’t look at them, but continued on down through the carefully kept garden–all the gardens in Peaksville were carefully kept, very carefully kept–and went past the rusting, useless hulk that had been the Fremont family car, and went smoothly over the fence and out into the cornfield.

“Isn’t this a lovely day!” said Mom, a little loudly, as they went toward the back door.

Aunt Amy fanned herself. “A beautiful day, dear. Just fine!”

Trump has a new vision for FEMA – the Federal Emergency Management Agency that provides critical aid in natural disasters like hurricanes. He’s going to dismantle it. It’s already been hobbled by DOGE staff cuts and the resignations of demoralized staffers, but no worries – he’s just going to get rid of it altogether.

Don will withhold all funding to blue states, but it will be interesting the next time a disaster hits a red state. Frankly, not one of the 50 states probably has the infrastructure in place to deal with the immediate aftermath of a major disaster.

I was in emergency management at the local & state level for years. The entire premise is the feds provide the money, the states provide the management, and the locals provide the manpower.

Augmented in large scale emegencies by the state National Guard then Federal troops.

No state can afford a big disaster event unless the Feds step in with their bottomless wallet.
