He’s demanding unconditional surrender; you don’t get that without leveling the country in the process. Especially since the leadership knows we’ll kill them like we killed Saddam.
Hussein was killed by hanging, after receiving a sentence from the Iraqi Special Tribunal.
Unless that is what you mean by “us”?
Gaddafi didn’t fare so well, either. The US has nothing directly to do with it, but did help topple the regime, and the rest was almost inevitable.
This is from The Onion, but it pretty much matches de facto reality.
WASHINGTON—After weeks of eliminating what many lawmakers called “frivolous” and “unnecessary” provisions, Congress reportedly passed a blank bill Thursday in which President Donald Trump can simply write whatever law he wants. [snip] Just hours after the bill’s passage, President Trump took to Truth Social and sharply criticized Congress for making him write down anything at all.
My bold. Yeah, that sounds like him.
I don’t know if that’s a typo or not, but if it is a typo, it is perfect!
The Big Beautiful Bill provision essentially prohibiting enforcement of contempt of court rulings, against administration officials, pretty much amounts to giving in to Trump on what you bolded.
This Trump guy is gonna get worse than the Bananas dictator.
We conquered Iraq in a war of aggression and put in a puppet government so yes, it was us. He dared to defy us so he had to die. The Iranian leadership has also defied us, so they also have to die.
Perhaps more to the point, do you actually think that the leadership of Iran has a more positive view of America, its actions and its intentions than I do? Do you think that the Iranian leadership believes that the “Great Satan” stands for Truth and Justice? Somehow I doubt that.
No, I’m talking about this:
The congressional committee investigating January 6 on Thursday revealed new evidence that Donald Trump had a preexisting plan to falsely declare victory on election night in 2020—part of a plot to use made-up voting fraud claims in an attempt to retain power.
For the second time, the committee played leaked audio first reported by Mother Jones in which Trump adviser Steve Bannon, during an October 31, 2020, meeting, said that Trump had a “strategy” to prematurely assert he had won on Election Day. Explaining the so-called “red mirage,” in which Trump would show early leads in key states before mail-in ballots favoring Joe Biden were counted, Bannon said: “Trump’s going to take advantage of it. That’s our strategy. He’s gonna declare himself a winner.”
“He’s gonna declare victory,” Bannon said. “But that doesn’t mean he’s a winner. He’s just gonna say he’s a winner.”
Gonna get worse? Isn’t he already?
We’ll know when he orders the army to wear their shorts on the outside.
I thought it was all citizens who had to.
Cool sidegig Francis Coppola had playing the dictator.
Washington State makes clergy mandatory reporters of child abuse with no exception for the seal of the confessional. No surprise, the Catholic Church won’t go along with that.
Trump’s Department of Pandering to the Base Justice intervenes on behalf of the Church, as if it can’t hire its own lawyers to try a case with hundreds of years of successful precedent.
I saw a story recently about an incarcerated Rastafarian suing after his dreads were shaved by prison authorities, a violation of his religious practice. No DOJ lawsuit for him.
I thought he would have been too busy filming the fake Mars landing.
I’ve seen many t-shirts, posters, etc w a pic of trump’s triumphant smirking mug pasted in front of the White House w the tagline “Daddy’s home!”.
So apparently a resonating idea with the deplorable set. I find it nauseating, but I find nearly everything associated w him to be nauseating.
You’re not kidding. The daddy thing keeps coming up, along with my lunch.
There is a whole college thesis waiting to be written about the “daddy” thing. It’s really weird, even by MAGA norms.
Non-video synopsis?
As I recall it was a NATO guy suggesting that the fight between Israel and Iran was akin to children squabbling and the US was playing the role of “daddy” breaking it up. I don’t think he meant Trump. Good God, I hope he didn’t mean Trump.
The Daddy meme is months old. Not started by the current Iran/Israel war.
“Daddy” is also a standard term submissive women use to describe their dominating / domineering man. “Daddy, please spank me! I’ve been a bad girl.” “Daddy’s little [redacted]”. See a lot of t-shirts like that if you visit the right (AKA wrong) kinds of websites.
I think the whole trump phenomenon is a weird twisted take on dominance and submission. The natural born followers want to put a domineering sort in charge and then roll over and play submissive before him. All while claiming they’re rugged tough self-sufficient individualists. It’s a psychodrama all the way through.
