Thanks to Boardwalk Empire I found Steve Buscemi and Michael Pitt in Tom DiCillo’s Delirious, a kind of Notting Hill for the less middle aged, middle class. It kicks off with The Dandy Warhol’s* Bohemian Like You* which is the most amazing pastiche of other stuff, but turn it up and it it will get you jumping.
*So what do you do?
Oh yeah I wait tables too.
No I haven’t heard your band,
Cause you guys are pretty new.
But if you dig on Vegan food,
Well come over to my work,
I’ll have them cook you something that you’ll really love,
Cause I like you,
Yeah, I like you,
And I’m feeling so Bohemian like you,
Yeah, I like you,
Yeah, I like you,
And I feel wahoo, wooo*
Astronautilus, according to wiki, has been described as “if Beck were a decade or so younger and had grown up more heavily immersed in hip-hop,” with his rapping style noted for “blending styles of indie rock, electro, and talkin’ blues” with hip-hop, although his second album showed a turn towards a style close to shoegazer rock.
All I know is that I can’t stop listening to this song.
I’ve only been hearing it on Little Steven’s Underground Garage, but Plumtree’s Scott Pilgrim; yep, the song that apparently inspired the comic-turned-flick.
