The current song that played LOUD gets you up and smiling.

Thanks to Boardwalk Empire I found Steve Buscemi and Michael Pitt in Tom DiCillo’s Delirious, a kind of Notting Hill for the less middle aged, middle class. It kicks off with The Dandy Warhol’s* Bohemian Like You* which is the most amazing pastiche of other stuff, but turn it up and it it will get you jumping.

*So what do you do?
Oh yeah I wait tables too.
No I haven’t heard your band,
Cause you guys are pretty new.
But if you dig on Vegan food,
Well come over to my work,
I’ll have them cook you something that you’ll really love,

Cause I like you,
Yeah, I like you,
And I’m feeling so Bohemian like you,
Yeah, I like you,
Yeah, I like you,
And I feel wahoo, wooo*

What wakes you up?

Two Years Before the Mast by Astronautilus: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4BiKHL-SBk

Astronautilus, according to wiki, has been described as “if Beck were a decade or so younger and had grown up more heavily immersed in hip-hop,” with his rapping style noted for “blending styles of indie rock, electro, and talkin’ blues” with hip-hop, although his second album showed a turn towards a style close to shoegazer rock.

All I know is that I can’t stop listening to this song.

“Young Hearts Spark Fire” by Japandroids

*Well you can keep tomorrow, after tonight we’re not gonna need it . . . *

“Trailerhood” by Toby Keith

At the moment, it’s “A More Perfect Union” by Titus Andronicus.

Speaking of Boardwalk Empire, I love that they use the Brian Jonestown Massacre’s “Straight Up and Down” as the theme song.

I’ve only been hearing it on Little Steven’s Underground Garage, but Plumtree’s Scott Pilgrim; yep, the song that apparently inspired the comic-turned-flick.

Party All Day (Fuck All Night) by Steel Panther.

Lust for Life by Iggy Pop.

Linked to this a few weeks ago.

Cee Lo’s Fuck You gets me up, singing and dancing.

Currently, either the Kaiser Chiefs’ “I Predict a Riot” or Gallows’ “Misery”.

Or any one of about ten thousand more.

Shakira’s Waka Waka, but it doesn’t even need to be played loud.

This Too Shall Pass OkGo

Kelly Rowland - “Work” (Steve Pitron and Max Sanna Remix) (I’m a sucker for the beat.)

I also like to dance to Pitbull - I Know You Want Me. What a great merengue!

You get up and dance to these songs? Really?

Fuck you, OOO OOO OOOO! Hah! I think Ima have to legally download this song.

So, how much of their royalties are they paying to Bon Jovi?

That’s also an awesome merengue - I have now added it to my collection also.

I do, indeed, count pogoing and slamdancing as “real” dancing. Hell, “dance” is even in the word slamdance.

What can I say? I’m white and not gay. These songs get my juices flowing.

That’s one giant douchebag in that clip. Uh-ha-HAAAAA! Yo.
