The Daily Feud: All Things Icelandic by WormtheRed [Game Over]

DO NOT READ THIS THREAD BEFORE YOU POST YOUR ANSWERS

Object of the game: Try to think of the most popular answer, to get the most people matching you. [del]Google or other research is allowed, if you desire. [/del]Only answers that are “serious” will be scored. Joke answers will not be considered, as it is not fair to other players.

Scoring - Any answer duplicated by anyone else is worth 100 points divided by the number of entrants. For example: 50 entrant game = 2 pts per answer. If 4 people match that means they each get 8 pts for that answer. No matches = 0 points.

If any of you have ideas for Feuds -and would like me to score them- PM me and I’ll get you on The List.

FORMATTING OF ANSWERS IS IMPORTANT!

Write your answers like this; Do not repeat the questions, no periods at the end of answers, no spaces between lines, no comments, no fancy list coding. If you need to comment or clarify your answers, do it AFTER the list of answers. Thanks.
JUST LIKE THIS:

1. answer <<—There is a space after the period!
2. response
3. rejoinder

The game will end either when we have 50 entrants, or at 4:00 PM Central on Monday, 01/26/09 whichever comes first.

Good luck!

** Worm** has recently mentioned Iceland’s population. Otherwise I would have have guessed 10 times as much… But while I was writing that, it occurred to me that other posters might not have read it, so it’s pointless to write the correct figure. And while I’m writing that it occur to me that it’s the same with other answers. Yes, it’s the first time I play a Feud, why do you ask?

This game is particularly confusing, because contrarily to other similar Feuds, there are factually correct answers, while usually it’s about guessing the most popular response in a large pool of equally valid answers. Here, it’s about guessing whether my best guess is going to be similar with other people’s best guess.

I eventually changed my answers to the three first questions. My original answers were 0.3, 950 AD and rocky plains (according to pictures I saw of horse riding in Iceland) And sorry, I don’t know how is spelled Rjek…Riekj…

The factually correct answer may not be the correct feud answer. If everybody but 1 says the population is 29 mill and it actually is 2 million, the incorrect answer scores more.

Yes, I got that. That’s why I eventually changed some answers. But my first instinct was indeed to try to give the answer I assumed to be correct. But the answer I believe to be correct has a good chance of being correct since dopers are generally cultured. Except that my answer might not be correct, hence won’t be right one since dopers are cultured. So, should I go with the answer I believe to be correct or not? Especially since cultured dopers will assume rightly or wrongly that I’m not cultured. Or maybe that I am cultured. That’s confusing…
