Technically speaking, neither AC/DC or KISS are acronyms. The notion that the names stand for Anti-Christ Devil Children and Knights In Satan’s Shadow is an urban legend.

I heard Knights in Satanic Service. As I noted in my pick, I know it’s really not an acronym but I was banking on some people not knowing it. :slight_smile:

I’m surprised The Monkees are the first animal band that comes to mind. The Beatles were definitely the first for me, although I wasn’t sure if the misspelling would hurt until I saw the insect/arachnid one, and I knew Beatles would be top dog there. Then Cat Power drowned out every other animal band in my head (I mentally went through random animals, even eagles, and I couldn’t think of any other bands).

My 3 finishes so far are #47, #25, and now #33. I rock!

Also, twicks, I think “Bee Gees” was short for “Brothers Gibb.”

I never really thought about KISS’s name before. I somehow knew it wasn’t an acronym (a special interest of mine), but I wonder, are they the only band to have a name that’s a noun or other regular word, but always in all-caps? You never see it written “Kiss.”
