The Dalai Lama's Name

I read a recent article about how scientists are studying the Dalai Lama’s brain processes to try and determine the physical basis for all that Zen mind control stuff. Nowhere in the article did it use his given name, always calling him the Dalai Lama.

Even the Pope has a name, fer cryin’ out loud. A Pope name and a birth name. Doesn’t the Dalai Lama?

The Dalai Lama’s real name is Bstan-'dzin-rgya-mtsho.

Q. Whoa, pardner. How the heck is anybody supposed to pronounce *that?[i/]

A. It is pronounced Tenzin Gyatso.

Googling “Dalai Lama real name” brought up Tenzin Gyatso on many pages, including this one: http://www.friends-of-tibet.org.nz/dlama.html

His real name is Ed.

That would be Ed Lama.

Father was Stan Lama. Mother was Phylis (Jones) Lama.

His nickname is Ommmmmm.

Funny thing is, if the Dalai Lama was reading this thread I bet he would jump right in and laugh along with the rest of us. I bet he has some great inside stories to tell.
